    1) COVID-19 is an infec ous disease caused by the virus strain Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2),

    2) In more severe cases,infec on can cause pneumonia,severe acute respiratory syndrome and kidney failure.  
     
    METHODOLOGY :  
    COVID-19 detec on by Polymerase Chain Reac on (PCR) is based on the ampli ca on of 3 speci c SARC-CoV-2 genes (ORF1ab, N gene
    and S gene) using Real Time PCR (Open System). In RT PCR, the ampli ed product is detected via  uorescent dyes.  
     
    CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE :  
    1) Detec on of COVID-19/B-Betacoronavirus RNA in pa ents with COVID-19/B-Betacoronavirus infec on.Clinical correla on with
    pa ent history and other diagnos c informa on is necessary to determine pa ent infec on status.  
    2) Lower detec on limit of the essay is 10 GCE/Reac on.  
     
    LIMITATION OF ASSAY :  
    1) Presence of PCR inhibitors may interfere with PCR ampli ca on.  
    2) Nega ve result does not rule out the possibility of infec on and should not be used as the sole basis for pa ent management
    decisions.Presence of inhibitors,muta ons and insu cient-organism RNA can in uence the result.  
     
    DISCLAIMER :  
    1) This test is intended for use in conjunc on with clinical presenta on and other laboratory markers.  
    2) Improper specimen collec on, handling, storage and transporta on may result in false nega ve results.
