    CHRONOLOGY OF THE TANAKH / OLD TESTAMENT

    This chronology is based on the Masoretic Text (the 1000-year old Hebrew version of the Tanakh that
    is the basis for most of the modern English translations used by both Jews and Christians).

    The A.M. (“Anno Mundi”) dates measure the amount of years since the creation of the world and have
    been converted to B.C.E. / B.C. (“Before the Common Era” or “Before Christ”) dates using the year
    164 B.C.E. as the anchor point. Please note that the scribes chose many of the numbers for symbolic or
    poetic reasons and therefore they should not be understood as literal, historical dates.
