places for children to be while their parents are working, and they
support kids' physical, mental, social, and emotional health.
GUIDELINES FOR

PARENTS
•Provide writtenconsent for your child
to attend school.

•Coordinate withthe school to receive

information and ask how you can
support school safety efforts

•Get the child mentally ready for a new

routine. Point out the positive aspects
of starting school.

•You also need to encourage and guide

your child to plan his/her daily

play, sleep, activities to maintain good
health and hygiene, etc.
GUIDELINES FOR
PARENTS
•Ensure that your ward goes to
school wearing a mask and
sensitize him/her not to
exchange masks with others.
Masks can be made at home
also. Face masks made of cloth
may be reused after thorough
washing with soap. Disposal face
masks are to be disposed safely.
• Encourage your ward to wear
full-sleeved clothes to minimize
the interaction with any public
surface.
• Parents may take care not to
send their ward to school if the
child is not feeling well.
GUIDELINES FOR PARENTS

from school, as far as
possible.
If sent by school bus then
guide them to maintain
physical/social distancing
and ensure that everyone
is wearing a mask.
Ask your ward to
practice physical/social

once she/he leaves home.

ward’s uniform and other
belongings daily.

Physical distancing outside classrooms:
Maintain a distance of at least 6 feet for both students (all age groups) and staff, where
feasible.
Maintain social distancing in classroom
AVOID
Children and adolescents 12 years or older should follow
the national mask guidelines for adults.

Types of mask:
Fabric masks are recommended to prevent onward
transmission in the general population in public areas,
particularly where distancing is not possible, and in areas of
community transmission. This could include the school
grounds in some situations. Masks may help to protect
others, because wearers may be infected before symptoms
of illness appear.
The use of masks by children and adolescents in schools
should only be considered as one part of a strategy to limit
the spread of COVID-19.
PREVENT SPREAD OF
