TITLE OF THE PROJECT:

“Project Metamorphosis: Clean-up Drive Towards Community Progress”

Project Metamorphosis derives from the concept of the process which

a butterfly undergoes, breaking outside its cocoon. In other words, it
symbolizes transformation. The project composes of two programs: Coastal
Clean-up and Environmental Awareness Campaign. The purpose of these
programs is to orient environmental awareness and strategic garbage
disposal to the residents of Purok Everlasting South, Macalang, Dasol,
Pangasinan. The project also aims to maintain cleanliness always. Just like
a butterfly, it flies to numerous gardens of opportunity and beauty.

A. RATIONALE

I. Coastal Clean-up Program

Throwing of waste products along the shore of Purok Everlasting

South, Macalang, Dasol, Pangasinan has been observed as the population
increases. Difficulties in controlling its residents on proper disposal of their
garbage has been a problem to its environment. As part of the main
objective of the proposed project, a coastal clean-up drive along the shore of
Purok Everlasting South as well as its nearby areas will be conducted.

II. Environmental Awareness Program

Residents of the barangay dispose their garbage by burning. They are

not practicing waste segregation. The residents lack knowledge that burning
plastics would release harmful chemicals that could cause cancer. Thus,
there is a need to educate and inform them regarding proper waste disposal
as well as the effects of burning in our environment and in our health.
B. PROPOSAL OBJECTIVES

With the problem on improper waste disposal on Purok Everlasting

South, Project Metamorphosis is proposed and crafted to provide solution.
With the implementation of this project, it aims the following:
 Promote environmental awareness.
 Inform the residents the importance of cleaning the environments.
 Encourage the people about proper disposal of garbage.
 Teach fun and easy way of recycling plastic materials.

C. PLAN OF ACTION

The programs share the same plan though it has different ways of
implementation depending on the type of program. There should be at least
four or five meetings per program. It can be achieved by assigning a certain
program in its specific date of implementation.

1st meeting - Surveying

1. Conduct a house to house interview and know every resident’s outlook

and situation.
2. Determine the projects that need to be implemented by asking
potential questions that would inspire us to put the programs into
practice.

2nd meeting- Preparation

1. Making tree guards, trash-bins and placards. Jotting down ideas for
the lectures, pamphlets and videos.
2. Initiation of the program.
3rd and 4th meeting- Implementation

1. Initiation of program.
2. Report the developments and tackle concerns in order to avoid future
problems.

5th meeting- Progress Evaluation

1. Final report of developments and other existing matters.

D. BUDGETARY REQUIREMENTS

The Coastal Clean-up program has no budgetary requirement for the

materials needed are just plastic bags and sacks. Meanwhile, the
Environmental Awareness Campaign has a total budget of P 1,600.00 which
will be used to provide materials for trash-bin making, distribution of
pamphlets, building of placards and tree guards. The remaining P 900.00
was used for additional expenses such as travel fare, vehicle’s fuel and
multimedia purposes. The Approximate Budget is P 2,500.00.

E. OUTCOME OF THE PROJECT

The outcome or expected output of the Coastal Clean-up Program is for

the residents to become aware on the importance of a clean coastal area.
Since the elderly are busy with their works and whereabouts, their children
will be the ones expected to do a clean-up drive after high tides. Through
this, the waste materials which are being thrown will be lessened. Also, a
permanent schedule will be set for a coastal cleanup which during their free
times (e.g weekends and holidays).
The prospect of Environmental Awareness Program primarily focuses on
the practice of proper waste disposal and eventually stop the burning of
plastics. By showing them documentaries from TV shows (specifically from
GMA Network) on segregation, recycling, the residents will be oriented on
the proper way of waste segregation. To have a clean surrounding that is
essential for a healthy living, people need to segregate biodegradable
materials, apply the 3R’s (reduce, re-use, recycle) and practice the “clean
and green” principle.
