INTRODUCTION AND ITS BACKGROUND

1.1 Introduction

Cavite on the southern part of the Luzon deemed to be the second rank in

tourism. Cavite is known as a historical site, considering the events that have

taken place in the cities and towns, particularly during the revolution at the turn of

the 20th Century. Only a few people know that the province of Cavite is an area

most often visited by local and foreign visitors, according to the National

Statistics Office (NSO). The latest NSO report said that Cavite is ranked No. 2 as

the most frequently visited place after the National Capital Region (NCR) in term

of domestic visitors alone. The research is being conducted in Carmen Silang,

Cavite, and a provincial type and planned to have a Planned Unit Development

(PUD) area in anticipation of the spillover of developments in the proposed

Growth Management Area 2. This will likewise be in preparation for the proposed

CALAX Road.

And we have noticed that almost all the hotels description in Silang, Cavite

are mentioned the Tagaytay International Convention Center which is located

within a 2.38 hectare property at the heart of Tagaytay City. It offers facilities and

services that may be considered at par with other convention centers in the

country. Its proximity to major tourist establishments in the city makes it even
more ideal venue for conferences, trainings, seminars and special events. The

center is good for Convention, Events and Exhibition Planners. Guest can look

forward to combining business with pleasure and to commune with nature. Silang

Cavite does not have convention center and not much activity center. To help the

Silang, Cavite to raise the economy and its tourism, this research will Proposed

Resort Hotel with Convention Center.

A resort in Silang, Cavite would provide a tourist with another option for

lodging and activity center. A resort that can provide accommodations in a hotel

setting, cabins, pools, convention center and condominiums that would be able to

pick some interest from the local and foreign. Providing these opportunities to the

tourist in the Silang, Cavite would give them the opportunity to enjoy the quiet

and relaxing place of Silang, Cavite without traveling far for their

accommodations.

Tourism, the act and process of spending time away from home in pursuit

of recreation, relaxation, and pleasure, while making use of the commercial

provision of services. Tourism industry involve the factors of the resort planning,

the aspects of resort planning in order to attract tourists and try to sustain it by

the time. Sustaining the tourism in the Philippines. If tourism policies are strong,

fair and properly implemented, host country locals will likely notice an increase in

their standard of living because of this effect. The benefits of thriving economy in
a place will improve the Silang, Cavite. The hotel industry in the Philippines is

expected to see a continued growth over the next five years, although a decline

in hotel occupancy rates in the first half is forecasted.  Hotel occupancy rates in

Silang, Cavite are relatively low for the average people.

This research proposal proceeded to explore the aspect of tourism impact

in the city. The arch study focused on the proposed Proposed Resort Hotel with

Convention Center located in Silang, Cavite that will provide and accurate,

advance facilities and a sustainable development for the society. The site is

suitable for the said development because it is situated in an agricultural and

commercial complex which enables to feel an old fashioned way of living.

1.2 Background of the Study

Silang is located 45 kilometers south of Metro Manila which makes it an

ideal destination for weekenders. It has a cool and invigorating climate ideal for

short outdoor activities. It provides comparative advantage in terms of tourism

potential. It is strategically located such that it serves as a gateway to Tagaytay

City and other tourist destinations in the province of Batangas.

Resort is a place to spent holiday for relaxation and recreation so that, one

can give dynamism to their leisure time. Oxford’s dictionary defines resort as

place that is frequented for holidays or recreation or for a particular purpose. One

can go and swim in resort, can have lunch, can go just to pass time, plan an
overnight stay and lit campfire, artist can complete their portrait, novelist can

finish novel, a poet can create his poem and tourist can have charming stay

there. A resort can function as a conference center, as a meeting center, as a

banquette, as restaurant, as a health club and variety of activities.

This study will conduct the Proposed Resort Hotel with Convention Center

that may contains full service lodging facility, intended primarily for vacationers

and usually located in places frequented for relaxation or recreation, such as

scenic or historic areas, ski parks, spas. Ecological architecture is a type of urban

greening, which is about creating green spaces that promote symbiosis between

urban and natural environments. As cities around the world become larger,

ecological architecture has grown to promote that symbiosis in new, creative,

aesthetically pleasing ways. It has also grown in popularity as we have become

more aware of climate change, and search for means of combatting its effects.

An eco-resort, by loose definition, would be a lodging facility that takes steps to

reduce its carbon footprint while giving back to its local community.

The municipality of Silang is blessed with natural tourism potentials that

can be enhanced and developed into tourist destinations. Ilog ng bayan and

Fresco Springs offer cool and refreshing spring’s ideal for family outings. Cabag

Cave has Underground River that runs 50 meters inward. The forest can be

increased to a total area of 185 hectares if reforested. The Hoyo Lagoon in

Barangay Pook is another potential area for tourism development. Added to the
natural tourism potentials are resorts with rest and recreational facilities where

seminars, meetings and other forms of gatherings can be conducted. There are

historical and cultural sites among of which are the Silang Church, one of the

oldest Church in the Philippines and the La Sallete Shrine. Other landmarks may

be further developed as potential tourist attractions. For the golf enthusiasts, the

Riviera Golf Course and Country Club is already in operation. The tourism spill

from the city of Tagaytay and Information Technology Center in the area, are

factors for tourism boost in Silang. Restaurants and coffee shops offering bio-

organic foodstuffs along the Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo Highway form part of tourist

attractions. An ornamental plant complements these attractions.

According in 2010, the NSO Census on Population recorded a total

population of 213,490 for the Municipality of Silang, Cavite. Utilizing the derived

growth rate of 3.68%, the projected total population for 2012 is 229,492 while the

total households are 50,010. As to distribution of the total household population

222,061 (2012), there are 109,942 males and 112,119 females. Sex ratio is

1:1.02 meaning there is a dominance of the female population. There are 102

females for every 100 males.

1.3 Theoretical Framework

“Our opportunity, as designers, is to learn how to handle the complexity,

rather than shy away from it, and to realize that the big art of design is to

make complicated things simple.”

Tim Parsey

“In the big picture, architecture is the art and science of making sure that our

cities and buildings fit the way we want to live our lives.”

Bjarke Ingels

Architecture is a complex subject with such aesthetics art of building. The

world around us continuing to evolve and that includes our surroundings and

buildings too. As the architects in the world seek to find culture and meaning

through building without getting lost. A building with such complexity should be

convey in such a simple way to understand its complexity and meaning. Finding

simplicity in a complicated things gives understanding and not to confuse people

to help improve the efficiency and effectiveness which generates better results.

Sustainability consider the spaces and the more it is accessible to a much larger

mass and public, the more space that being provided will help the users to feel

more relaxed and more comfortable. We have the opportunity to create an

environment that people would like to find comfortability and to work in. To

design a resort takes to find also the relaxation and willingness of enthusiasm of

the user to take part in a growing environment.

of the Proposed Resort Hotel with Convention Center. The input contains the

major problems and the minor problems of the study which the major problems

include the design approach, factors that affects the future generation, effects of
the proposed project, and the limited energy resources; and the minor problems

include the planning strategies, innovation, and the amenities needed.

Dependent and independent element are shown on the above figure. Show on

the figure are the major and minor problems encountered in the design process

as well as the design considerations that serves as the basis for the architectural

design. These two serves as the independent elements for the study. The

dependent elements are the design process for the Proposed Resort Hotel with

Convention Center.

1.5 Statement of the Problem
