    Interviews:
    Tell me about yourself: What is your name? What college did you attend? What was your
    specified major? What kind of job experience do you have? What is your current job, if any?

    A: My name is Carleen Rummer. I attended IUP my majored in art education. Before getting my
    current job some job experience would be working retail throughout college, a camp counselor
    and senior staff member at camp Cayuga, and manager of a bar and restaurant in Scotland and all
    of my student teaching and Substituting for schools.

    During your time in college, where did you picture yourself being in the following years to
    come? I.e What kind of job did you picture yourself in?

    A: I pictured myself being a high school art teacher, which i am. Right now i have a husband
    and child which in college i was pretty sure I didn't want to have children, but obviously now i
    am so grateful to have my son.

    What steps did you take to help maximize your career success? Before, during, and after college?

    A:Before- high school took classes for her field such as art and class working with children
    During -I minored in three degrees: art history, religion, Asian studies. I took two different
    languages, traveled and worded with kids.
    After- I keep in touch with people in my field, as in talk to other teachers and communicate
    ideas and lessons. I also try to stay current. I teach high school students so I try to stay in touch
    with things and people their age like.
    Do you believe that motivation had an impact on your career success? If so, why?

    A: Yes, if not in wouldn't have a job. Paying off student loans was a big motivator, wanting a job
    I was proud of also really motivated me. Being a teacher is something I’m proud to say I now
    am. Not that the other jobs I had like working at a bat or in retail, just for me, teacher is a title
    I’m happy to have. Also I met my now husband during college and he is from a different country.
    This motivated me to go out look for places that were hiring all over the country and apply to
    many schools in order to get a job, so him coming here to stay would be easier, as in the
    government would allow him to stay.

    Is there anything you would have done differently in college?

    A: I wish I studied abroad luckily I had the chance to travel afterword, and realized if I would
    have went with my school it would have been a little cheaper, for what I was getting ,and
    educational. …..

    What were/are your career goals in life and, if you haven't already met those goals, how do you
    plan to achieve these goals?...

    A: my overall all goals has always been to make art, have something purely mine. So I am
    currently have a plan to
    make a clothing line. The plan includes getting my normal life under control, i do have a crazy
    toddler running around, but for now I have sketches and eventual plan to sell on small online
    shops, to start.

    What can you say to other college students to encourage them?


    A: This is the only time you are going to do what you want , travel, take interesting course, if
    you are lucky to have a refund check use it for something important and interesting. I know too
    many people who spent it on beer and now essentially that's what they are now paying off. Make
    the four years count, explore, learn, try new things, work hard.
