    Please accept this letter in application for the Music Teacher position in the ______
    School District. I am a graduate of James Madison University with a degree in vocal
    music education, and currently a Vocal Music Teacher in the Hackensack School District.

    Throughout my undergraduate studies, I have worked with all age levels K-12, and also
    served as a choral manager for both the JMU University Chorale and Treble Chamber
    Choir. Having taken several semesters of Choral Conducting, I have also had the pleasure
    of teaching and conducting vocal ensembles. My experience as an Innovation Leader in
    the Center for Inclusive Music Engagement has also afforded me opportunities to
    facilitate music-making experiences as well as conduct personal research. Most notably, I
    have designed and facilitated ukulele-learning events, as well as drum circle opportunities
    for community members of all ages. In addition to my course work and study in the field
    of music education, I have also gained performance experience through singing in the
    most highly auditioned JMU choral ensembles, specifically the JMU Chorale.

    Through teaching elementary vocal music during a pandemic, I have gained immense
    skills in regards to my patience and lesson planning that are essential when teaching
    virtually. While this method of teaching does not come with ease, it has challenged me to
    get to know my students on a deeper level, hone in on my teaching style, and find
    creative and meaningful ways to engage my students. As in-person instruction begins to
    resume, I am certain that I will reflect on these experiences and use them to enhance my
    teaching abilities for my students.

    My music education skills, ensemble and vocal studies, and passion for teaching music
    have prepared me for a career in choral music. I would welcome the opportunity to join
    the teaching community in the _______ School District. I am excited to begin the next
    steps of my career journey; applying the knowledge I have gleaned as a music student
    and developing a choral culture modeled after what I have experienced within the music
    department at James Madison University.
