    1. DepEd extends school year, moves last day of classes to July.

    Thesis statement: The Department of Education has announced that there will be extension of classes
    this school year, which they said that the end of the classes will be move from June to July. The DepEd
    also said that the adjustment was made to "address learning gaps" and to give teachers time to prepare
    the materials for distance learning. They also conduct intervention on last March 1-12 (which is the
    semestral break of the students) called ‘’intervention activities’’ to discuss about the potential need of
    the students. The implementation of distance learning, however, has been widely criticized, as the
    country appears to be not fully prepared for it. This is evident in the difficulty of teachers to cope with
    the new mode of instruction, lack of access of a number of students to gadgets needed for the shift, and
    reports of erroneous learning modules.

    The reporter, Chiara Zambrano said that as they rode a motor boat and was about to reach Ayungin
    Shoal, a Chinese ship went their direction. As it moved closer and closer, it sent a radio communication
    and in English asked who they were and what they were doing in the area. To avoid possible aggression
    and unnecessary tension, they decided to return to Palawan but the tension heightened when Chinese
    ships armed with destructive missiles chased them. This is one of the latest aggressions that China had
    taken against Filipinos inside Philippine territory as the Ayungin Shoal and Panganiban Reef are located
    within the exclusive economic zone of the Philippines, which means the Philippines, not China, has
    sovereign rights over these features.
