CLIENT: Research In Motion, Toronto, Canada
▪ Plan for and oversee the installation of the BSAE Seamless Connector; moving
HPNA data and HPSA data to the Atrium CMDB.
▪ Work with the network specialists to create a network path for the Connector to
BSAE and Connector to Remedy, through firewalls, using tcpdump, ping, tcping,
and telnet.
▪ Oversee the progression of the Seamless Connector integration in the Development
environment, in the QA environment, and in the Production environment.
▪ Monitor the Seamless Connector upload through ITSM Asset Manager.
▪ Work with BMC Remedy 7.6.04 (pre release) to prepare the Atrium CMDB for the
data upload.
▪ Re-map the Seamless Connector to match RIM’s custom Atrium CMDB import
forms and procedures.
▪ Advise client on the use of the Atrium CMDB reconciliation job, as delivered with
the BSAE Seamless Connector.
▪ Create and host a training class of slides and WebEx, for client Technicians who
will be responsible for the support of the production implementation of the
Seamless Connector.

▪ Structure BMC Topology Discovery to discover network assets within enterprise
boundaries.
▪ Build a reporting mechanism to monitor the Topology metrics used to measure
discovery completeness.
▪ Create normalization mappings to normalize data from Marimba (BBCA) through a
massively revamped Product Catalog Table.
▪ Construct BMC Reconciliation structures to reconcile the discovered data into the
Gold Dataset.

▪ Construct ITIL CIs in BMC’s Remedy based Atrium CMDB.

▪ Migrate CMDB infrastructure, custom forms, and coding from Development
through QA to Production.
▪ Create program in Python to create a “cmdbdriver” script which builds custom
CMDB attributes and class from spreadsheet documentation data.
▪ Devise Crystal Report output encompassing unique relationships between CIs,
driven within BMC Remedy.
▪ Build a process to construct a BMC “cmdbdriver” script to give certain fields
special attributes in CMDB Classes.
▪ Design reconciliation processes to identify and merge initial load data into the
CMDB Golden dataset.
▪ Setup a daily load process using the “Seamless Connector” to incorporate an
external “discovery” type data source into a dataset in the CMDB and then perform
a daily reconciliation of that data.

because of the complex nature of the data.

Guided Sage technicians through database creation and use of Topology enterprise
application data.
▪ Developed plans to resolve network discovery issues. Worked with and fed
information to network engineers, database administrators, telecom administrators,
desktop and server engineers to resolve network discovery issues.
▪ Developed the network map to eventually replace spreadsheets of over 10,000
network connections.
