Quarter 1
Week 5-6 Music of the 20th Century
Lesson 1 (Performance Practice)

Dear Learner,
From the previous lessons, you have learned the role of music in influencing the
mood and the lives of people from the early centuries to present.
To keep you motivated to discover the talents in you, this lesson will help you
appreciate music and art more.
Keep on doing great! You are getting there!

Objectives:
At the end of this lesson, you must be able to:
• Perform music sample form the 20th century (MU10TC-Ib-5)
• Create music sample based on emotions.
• Collaborate harmoniously and creatively with the family.

Performance Task:
“Mood Music”
This activity will require you to make music based on the emotions that you have right
at this moment.
You may write your original composition, from lyrics to melody, or adapt a favorite
music that you have in your playlist and substitute the lyrics with any idea that you have in
your heart.
The lyrics may be from any language or dialect that you are comfortable with.
To add more color to it, the use of accompaniment is encouraged. You may begin sourcing
out for percussions – instruments that produce sound by striking or hitting with a piece of hard
material like a mallet. It can be an instrument from the environment - a tin can, an empty water
bottle, wood, sticks, metals or anything of this kind.
This activity may take some of your time. However, you may seek assistance from
your family, particularly in the sourcing out of materials for accompaniment, or in checking out
the lyrics that you choose for your composition.
Make efforts to perform in front of people or your family as you do rounds of practice.
Once you are ready, have your singing and the performance recorded using a cellphone video
or any camcorder you have at home. You may seek your family’s technical assistance on this
process – from video recording, to setting up of the presentation. You may include their
messages at the end of your video recording.
Submit your video to your facilitator. (Online submission may be possible or however
your video product may reach your facilitator.)

Way To Go, Learner!

Assignment:

Explore some more of what you can do. You might want to try another composition using
other emotions, or additional accompaniments to add more beauty to your previous
composition.
You might as well do a music video of your composition involving the whole family using
the Expressionist style. You may also try to express your feelings towards the current situation
the world is in, or anything that involves your feelings/emotions.
Follow the rubrics previously mentioned as your guide in your composition.
Keep On! You can do it!
Who knows, a new composer is coming out very soon!

Congratulations and
Good Luck!
