LESSON PLAN IN GRADE 7 MATHEMATICS

SUBJECT: MATHEMATICS GRADE: 7

PSSL COMPETENCY: (M7ME-IIa-3)

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
KNOWLEDGE

Define Angle and Its parts

SKILL

Measure Angles using a protractor

ATTITUDE

Appreciate the importance of estimation/ approximation and measurements

in everyday life

SUBJECT MATTER: Measuring Angles

Concept:
 Angle is defined as a figure formed when two rays share a common endpoint called
the vertex
 A protractor is used to determine the measure of an angle in degrees.

 Acute Angle- An angle whose measure’s less than 90°

 Right Angle- An angle whose measure’s exactly 90°

 Obtuse Angle- An angle whose measure’s greater than 90° but less than 180
 Straight Angle- An angle whose measure’s exactly 180 degrees

ABSTRACTION

What is an angle? Angle is defined as a

figure formed when
Angles
two rays share a
Derived from the Latin word angulus, which means
common endpoint
corner, Angle - is the result of the union of two
called the vertex
rays with a common endpoint.
- Is measured by means of an instrument, the
protractor, which gives a measure in terms
of degrees ( °). The teacher
- The measure of an angle depends on the will ask
opening of the sides of the angle. The
questions
greater the opening, the greater the measure
or vice versa.

Parts of the Angle

1. Rays – are the sides of an angle.
2. Vertex (vertices) – is the common endpoint of
the two rays.

Student will go to the

board and point out
the answer
 Based on the picture, where is the vertex?
 How about the rays?
