ACTIVITY 10.1 AND 10.2

POST-JOB INTERVIEW ASSESSEMENT

ACTIVITY SHEETS:

● POST JOB INTERVIEW ASSESSMENT

● INSPIRATION LETTER
ACTIVITY 10.1: INTERVIEW ASSESSMENT

For this activity, answer these three questions as comprehensively as you can:

1. What have you learned?

I had garnered a handful of lesson from the interview and a lot of it
concerns with the structuring of the answers. I was well-aware and practiced
answering questions that are commonly asked during interviews in the STAR
format but I was not able to convey it because my mind just simply ran off and
left me with rambling thoughts. I already had answers tailored to convey to some
of the common questions asked during the interview and I was not able to say it to
the questions similar with what is asked during the interview. I could have spoke
a little slower so in that way I can collect my thoughts and be able to answer in a
more sensible way.

2. How could you have answered the questions better?

I personally think that the questions would be better answered if I
remembered everything I had practiced and read about how to do well in an
interview. Unfortunately, due to my anxiety in speaking publicly or with other
people, amplified by my mind that just suddenly shut off when I most needed it, I
could have answered better. I practiced my answers to the questions presented
prior to this interview in the format of STAR but with my thoughts all over the
place, I was not able to exhibit this. I just realized after I had answered the
specific question. I am also “terrified” and in fear of speaking publicly since I was
in high school but I am proud that I did not say a lot of fillers such as “ahm” and
“ahh” when answering the questions unlike before.

3. What are some things that you think your co-applicants did well?

I think that they were able to highlight more specific skills in their chosen
career profession and convey a more comprehensive answer than I had.
4. ATTITUDE
This may be a difficult truth to accept, but there is a high probability that you will not be
hired the first time you apply for a job. This often happens to fresh graduates and those with
very little work experience.

That is fine.

Don’t punish yourself too much, or think that you were not hired because you lack in intelligence or that
you are unworthy of an employment. All these negative thoughts won’t change the fact that the company
still did not choose you. Thinking lowly of yourself only proves that they are right.

Though it may be true that you lack in experience, that doesn’t necessarily mean that you cannot grow
better and more professionally. One job interview is not the end of the line for you. Just as one teacher
cannot determine your worth, one company does not, either.

In most cases, applicants were not hired because they found a better applicant. This does not necessarily
mean that you are useless, it just means that someone was better. You can either take that as a challenge
to be just as good, or as a learning experience on areas that are your weaknesses. Never compare your
good qualities with those of others. You will never win; it is never a match, and you will look down on
yourself.

In other cases, applicants are not hired because the company was looking for something specific, that they
did not find in you. And again, that is okay. For sure, there is one company looking for exactly you. And
if you give up now, you might never find them and they can never find you. So, don’t.

It is cliché to say this, but failures are important. Your life is not determined by one failure, so make sure
that you don’t stop, either. Keep searching, and keep fighting.

You got this!

ACTIVITY 10.2: INSPIRE YOURSELF

For this activity, write a letter to yourself with words of encouragement. Imagine that you did
not pass your first job interview, what will you tell yourself to make sure you do not give up?

DATE: January 18, 2021

Dear Pat,
I know that you did your best in preparing for the job interview as
you always do in everything you encounter. I know that you are
disappointed and frustrated in how the situation had ended but you know
that God has always a plan tailored for you in the right time, in right
place, and in the right moment. I know you are upset and in constant
question about your capabilities and worth but you have gone a long
way and I am proud of you for trying.
Always know that I always got your back in the ups and downs of
life and I appreciate you for giving your best in everything you do, even
in your most feared activity – public speaking. Anyways, I love you and
I appreciate you.

Love,
Pat
