    KYB PSF (Pneumatic Spring Fork)

    We have been asked several questions about KYB’s newest fork. The fork comes standard on the 2013
    Kawasaki KXF450 and Honda CRF450R. There are some differences in the PSF between KXF and CRF, but
    the basic function is the same.

    Standard target weight is between 170 and 190 pounds. In most cases, springs and air pressure will need
    to be adjusted for any rider outside of this range.

    KYB PSF Basics:

     Pick the air gauge you are going to use and use only that gauges. Preferably a pump/ gauge
    combo. No two gauges are going to read the same.
     Set air pressure daily before you ride.
     Air pressure will vary slightly as fork heats and cools. Your base psi reading should be set with
    the fork cool. If bike has been ridden allow 30 minutes, for the forks to cool, before adjusting
    pressure.
     +/- 2 psi equates to approximately +/- 1 spring rate.
     Nitrogen has not shown any performance advantage over air in our testing.
     Due to a larger cartridge and less air space, fork oil height adjustments are very sensitive. We
    recommend on more than a 3-5cc change at a time.

    Standard Oil Volume: 230cc(misprint in Honda manual) 235cc
    Oil Volume Min/Max: 210-250cc 190-265cc
    Air Pressure Range (cold): 31-36 psi 32-41 psi
    Balance Spring Rate: 3.2 N/mm 3.2 N/mm
