Humor Corner
Hope you laugh out loud at this funny contributed by Virginia Conner.

A Minneapolis couple was planning to celebrate their 20th

anniversary in Florida at the same hotel where they had spent
their honeymoon. They were looking forward to thawing out
from an especially icy winter. Unfortunately they could not
travel together due to their hectic schedules. The husband flew
down first and was to be followed by his wife the next day. The
husband arrived and decided to e-mail his wife, unfortunately he
left out one letter in the e-mail address.

Meanwhile, in Houston a widow had just returned home from her

husband’s funeral. He had been a minister who had died
suddenly of a heart attack. The widow checked her e-mail
expecting messages from friends and relatives. After reading the
first message, she screamed and fainted. The widow’s son
rushed into the room, found his mother on the floor, and saw the
computer screen which read:

To: My Loving Wife

Subject: I’ve Arrived

I know you’re surprised to hear from me. They have computers

here and you are allowed to send e-mails to your loved ones.
I’ve just arrived and have been checked in.

I’ve seen that everything has been prepared for your arrival
tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing you then!

P. S. Sure is steamin’ hot down here!!!

Dos Compadres Girls’ Night Out

Those attending the annual Xeta Zi Girls’ Night Out at Dos
Compadres had a good time catching up with everyone’s
news. Potential member Katherine Callicoatte visited with
the group. Katherine was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma
in Uvalde, Texas. Katherine is retired now, but has been
substituting with MISD and loving it.
The November program held at the ATC of Midland College informed us
about Internet safety. We also held the World Fellowship Posted
Auction thanks to Kathy Landrum and her committee.

Letter from Lois

I know we’re all looking forward to seeing each other after our “winter break”, and the
program we have planned for next Monday night, March 7th, at Jann Pullig’s home will
give us a very welcome glimpse of spring. Susan McKinney, a local decorator, will be
giving us tips to “Jump in with New Spring Colors for Your Home”. I can’t wait to
hear the program and to see all of you again!

Zeta Xi had a very successful and fun Storybook Christmas at DeZevala Elementary in
early December. Thanks to Joy Cunningham for hosting us in her beautiful library .
Thanks to all the wonderful cooks in our group for providing such a delicious brunch.
It was exciting to see a follow-up story about our 20th Storybook Christmas on the front
page of the Midland Reporter- Telegram. Thanks co-chairs Joy, Pat Adams, and Ann
Andrews.

Zeta Xi has so much good news to celebrate. Nancy Doss was chosen to attend the
Alpha State Leadership Seminar. Afterwards she accepted the request from 2011-13
Alpha State President JoAnn Davis to be incoming Area Coordinator for Area 14.
Natalie Eustace also accepted a request to be the incoming Alpha State Program of
Work chairman. We’re so proud of both of you! Natalie has been 2009-2011 state
Music Chairman, also.

The Midland Reporter- Telegram ran a recent picture and article about Zeta Xi’s
program chairman Virginia Conner’s nod as TCTA Retiree of the year for the state of
Texas. Congratulations, Virginia!

Because this has been such a banner year for Zeta Xi we hope to have great
representation at the upcoming Alpha State convention in McAllen June 23-25.
Registration forms are available in the online Lone Star News. This year Southwest
Regional will be held in Denver June 29-July 2nd. Wouldn’t that be a fun place for a
convention?

Be sure to be thinking of prospective members to

invite to spring meetings.

Love and laughter to all of you,

Lois T.
