DAILY LESSON PLAN IN PHYSICAL SCIENCE

GRADE 11
FEBUARY 10, 2020 ( 2 hours lecture)

I. OBJECTIVES

A. Content Standards: The learners demonstrate an understanding of how the

uses of different materials are related to their properties and structures.
B. Performance Standards: The learners shall be able to explain how the uses of
different materials are related to their properties and structures.
C. Learning Competencies/Objectives: Determine if a molecule is polar or non-
polar given its structure. (S11/12PS-IIIc-15)
II. SUBJECT MATTER
A. Topic: Physical Science
B. Reference: Dennis G. Caballes, et. al. pp. 28-29 and Physical Science by Helen
E. Caintic, PhD. pp. 34-37.
C. Materials: board, laptop, projector, eraser, book

III. PROCEDURES
A. Preliminaries
1. Prayer & Greetings
2. Drills
3. Review
a. What are the polar and non-polar molecules?
b. How to determine the polarity of molecules given its structure?
4. Motivation
a. What are examples of elements that are polar and non-polar?
b. How to determines the polarity of molecules given its structures with 5, 6,
8 things inside the central atom?
c. Given the structure of an elements can you determine the molecule is
polar or non-polar?

B. Lesson Proper
1. Presentation
a. The teacher will show some video clips in determining the polarity of
molecules given its structure.
2. Activity
a. The students will apply the steps on how to determine the polarity of
molecules. They will explain the steps and write their answers on the board.
3. Analysis
a. What have you learned today?
b. What can you say with the activity?
c. How do you determine if the molecule is polar or non-polar given its structure?
4. Abstraction
a. Provides the student summary of the lesson and activity. How the students
will apply what they have learned from the discussion?
5. Application
The teacher will give more activity and problems and let the students answer.

IV. EVALUATION (QUIZ)

Determine the following:
a. Molecular geometry
b. Bond polarity of atoms
c. Polarity of molecules
Bond Polarity Molecular Geometry Polarity of Molecule
1. H2O
2. CCl4
3. BF3
4. SF6
5. SiF4

V. EXTENDED LEARNING
Study what are intermolecular forces of molecules.
