CONNECTING TOKICO LPG PUMPS

This page describes how to connect Enabler to Tokico LPG pumps (manuafactured in Japan). This
pump uses an RS-485 connection and a protocol called "SS LAN".

Note: Reliable communication with pumps using Tatsuno SS-LAN protocol requires Enabler
Card Firmware version of at least v2.71 build 01. If you have an earlier version, authorisation
and other important communications may be less reliable.

What Will I Need?

Tokico LPG pumps are connected to the Enabler via RS-485. You can connect a maximum of 8
dispensers for each FDM.

To connect these pumps you will require:

1. FDM Part #: FDM082 Passive

o Jumper J2 set to RS485 position (not IFSF)
2. No power supply is required for this FDM.
3. DB25 female connector with backshell, cable clamp, etc

4. Multi-strand cable with 3 or more cores, to suit distance between PC and FDM - maximum 15
metres (45 feet). For example, CAT5 or CAT6 cable. Note that 2 cores is not enough as a
ground is needed as well.
5. Tools: wire stripper, soldering iron, solder, 3mm flat blade screwdriver.
6. Cabling to pumps if necessary. You can use the same shielded multi-core, multi-strand cable
as above.

Physical Connection
Connecting FDM to Enabler
Select which Enabler port (1-3) you will use. Strip the ends of the cable. Solder one end to the port
pins on the DB25 socket. Leave the other ends bare to connect to the FDM:

Make sure you connect the FDM RS-485 ground to the Enabler DB25 ground pins. This provides
protection to the Enabler card against surges, such as nearby lightning strikes. (If you have an old
revision 1 FDM, there is no ground pin)

Once completed, fit the clamp to the cables entering the DB25, and close the backshell on the DB25.

Connecting FDM to Pump

Connect the two wires from the pump(s) to any of the pump connectors on the FDM, and set the
switch to the On (Down) position.

Label Pump

A A
B B
If all pumps are connected correctly the voltage from A to B should be between 1V and 4V DC. If it is
negative, you may have the A and B from The Enabler connected back to front.

Note: only the white and black wires (A and B) from the pump need to be connected to the FDM. The
red wire is ground. Try to swap A and B if no communication shown.

Configuring the Pump

Consult the manual or a pump technician for details. You will need to configure the following items:

 Set the pumps into SS-LAN mode.

 Set the pump address for each side by remote controller. Please note that the Pump Address
should start from 0 to 15, while the polling address configured in the Enabler Configuration
should start from 1 to 16.
Please restart the pump to let changes to take effect.

Configuring Enabler
Using the Web Applications > Configuration:

 Ports: Set the port type as Tatsuno (SS-LAN) - not 'Tatsuno partyline - for the port
connected to the FDM.

 Pumps: Add the required number of pumps and configure the following:

1. Port:  Select the configured port from above.

2. Type:  Select from these types

 Tatsuno Sunny MPD

3. Polling Address:  Set the polling address = the address configured in the pump + 1.

4. Display Format:  Select the display format to match the pump display.

5. Hoses:  Add hoses to match the number on the pump.

Prices higher than 9999

Enabler supports prices larger than 9999 by allowing price and value multipliers to be set for Tokico
pumps.

Multipliers are configured in the "Pumps" webpage of the Enabler Web Configuration.
Tatsuno driver v2.7.4 or later is required for multipliers.
