 Week 2: Exploring Diversity

The one I manage to talk with someone which is a random guy American guy I guess in
omegle.com. Then this is my answer for the following questions:

1. How do the individual’s feelings about socialization differ from your own?

Answer: Well I guess it’s a little bit awkward to talk with someone with different language it
is too hard to socialize with him.

2. How does the individual’s concept of self, compare with yours?

Answer: Well for me I guess I manage to talk with someone with formality by saying
greetings. I also make things more comfortable if possible, compare to him he is more like
seeking without limits at all. He is so straight towards a conversation.

3. To what extent do the individual’s values and attitudes differ from yours?

Answer: Somewhat in the attitude I really tend to listen and goes wherever the flow is then I
also value the opinion to someone I talk to.

4. Which of your behaviors did the individual have difficulty understanding or accepting?
Which of his or her behaviors did you have difficulty with?

Answer: Maybe the language I manage to use since it would be really hard for him to adjust I
talk to him with different language. My difficulty also is the same since I’m not that fluent to
talk with a certain person who is different from me.

5. Which of the individuals you interacted with did you find most like you? Most unlike
you? Can you identify your points of similarity and difference?

Answer: The friendly part I guess is what I like about him and for the unlike is that the way
he confidentially talk with me because if I were here in the Philippines If I engage talking to
a certain person, who I don’t know they would say “Kinsa ka?”, “Sino ka?” and “Who are
you?” it seems that in here we are more secured to ourselves compare to the one I talked he
seems to be more incautious. The similarity I guess is the way how to deliver our intention
which is to know each other while the difference is he is so straight to a topic without
knowing the background first.
6. In what ways did the individual’s nonverbal behavior differ from your own?

Answer: Well I guess for him he is not that type of person who is using a hand gestures while
talking compare to me which delivers hand gestures while talking just like moving my hand
every time I explain something.

7. In what ways did the individual’s use of verbal language differ from your own?

Answer: He manages to use a pure American English I guess? Well yeah absolutely he is and
for that reason I could still understand him since I manage to learn that language for everyday
lesson in school so that is what we use. I just manage to adjust for him for the sake of having
a neat conversation but just only applying English less since I’m not that fluent (just playing
safe).

8. In what ways did the individual’s nonverbal behavior differ from your own?

Answer: The question is the same as number six so my answer would be the same as number
6 :D

9. How did the individual’s treatment of time and space differ from your own?

Answer: Well as for now since I’m a student I only trigger talking to people depending to the
relation I have with him if I was his friend I could actually spend a lot of hours just talking
with him. But somehow we are not different since he is also a student.

10. In what ways did the individual’s thinking processes differ from yours?

Answer: The thinking process he has is that he just purely talking without any limits at all
because he really seeks conversation compare to me I just have this doubt in my head or a
slight shyness I guess and thinking something that would embarrassed the way I manage to
talk with him.
