Pre-lesson
1. Pupils say all of the names of the food they know.

Lesson delivery
2. Introduce the new vocabulary by following instructions for Vocabulary (Track 70) in the Teacher’s Book.
3. Ask pupils what they see in the picture (GSP 4 pg 49 – a boy and a girl buying food at a farmer’s market)
4. Pupils listen to a song (Track 71) in the Teacher’s Book. Note that the focus of this lesson should be on
listening, so you could adapt the activity (e.g. hide the song lyrics or ask pupils to close their books when

listening the first time) in order to help the pupils to focus on listening, not reading or speaking.
5. Pupils point to each food pictures when they heard the food’s name in the song.
6. Pupils being introduced to countable and uncountable nouns. Pupils name which food can be count and
which can’t.

Post-lesson
7. Pupils being given sheet of plain paper. Pupils draw one countable food and one uncountable food from the
song they listened.
