Two Stroke Diesel Engines


Running at Partial Load

Dear Sirs,

Referring to our previous service letter SL No. 73-52/JRD of December 1973


regarding engine running at partial load, we are extending the information
given to include also continuous engine running at so low load that small-
diameter atomizers must be used as shown on the enclosed table drawing No.
231020.

When small-diameter atomizers are used it is mainly the injection pressure and,
consequent Iy, the durabi lity of the high-pressure pipes that sets the upper limit
to the engine revolutions. However, during manoeuvring the engine revolutions
can be increased for at short period as stated on the above drawing as the
stresses originating from this wi 11 not cause fatigue fractures of the high-
pressure pi pes.
