The document discusses the SKYDECK Ply formwork system from PERI which is an alternative to their successful SKYDECK system using standard sized plywood panels. It focuses on the components, advantages, applications and configurations of the SKYDECK Ply system.

The SKYDECK Ply system uses standard sized plywood panels that are supported by Plywood Beams SBP and can be moved using Main Beams SLT for different configurations. The system is optimized for plywood sizes of 1.22m x 2.44m.

The SKYDECK Ply system allows for free choice of plywood, requires less props, components are lightweight, joints are safer, and it provides time savings as the formwork can be quickly erected and stripped. It also works well for fair-faced concrete.

■ SKYDECK Ply has the prop-

saving Main Beam SLT

Less props mean time savings

and more space for striking and
moving formwork material around.

The Main Beam lies protected below the

Plywood Beam and the plywood. That
provides a minimum of cleaning work.
In addition the plastic upper side of the
beam makes the beam lighter.

The SKYDECK Ply

The SKYDECK Plywood Beam SBP

allows a free choice of plywood.
Its wide supporting surface pro-
vides safety at the plywood panel
joints.

SKYDECK Ply has the drophead

Main Beams, Plywood Beams and

most of the plywood panels are
quickly free for the next use:
The plywood releases easier from
the concrete and the quantity of
plywood required is reduced.
The construction sequence can be
broken up, inclement weather can
be effectively bridged over through
early striking.

The construction principle of

SKYDECK PLY with the Plywood
Beams lying on top of the Main
Beams makes telescoping of
the Plywood Beams for edge
adjustments possible every-
where. The Main Beams remain
at the same height.

No special lengths of Plywood

necessary for the adjustments.

By moving the Prophead inwards the
Main Beam fits directly on the wall
and provides a safe support for the
last Plywood Beams SBP.

The Plywood Beams SBP can be

placed directly against the wall as
a safe support for the plywood.

The plastic teeth racks on the Main

Beams hold the Plywood Beams SBP.
Lugs on the Plywood Beams SBP also
prevent any horizontal movement.

PERI SKYDECK PLY
Site applications

SKYDECK Ply used on the construction

of the IGW tower, Sao Paulo (Office and
shop building)

SKYDECK Ply requires only a few

space-saving and lightweight parts:

■ Plywood Beam SBP 150 (8.5 kg)

■ Main Beam SLT 250 (17 kg)
■ Props with Drophead or Prophead

6 PERI Formwork Engineering

The position of the props is
already determined by the
prop grid of SKYDECK.

The Plywood Beam SBP fits over the

plastic teeth rack on the Main Beams.
They can be planned at any position
required.

PERI Formwork Engineering 7

PERI SKYDECK PLY
Site applications

Any normal plywood can be placed on the

SKYDECK Ply system, no matter whether a
certain structure is to be achieved on the soffit.
When using narrow filler strips over dropheads
the plywood can be reused directly after early
striking.

Placing the plywood on the

SKYDECK Plywood Beam SBP.

8 PERI Formwork Engineering

After early striking only the filler strips and the
props with dropheads remain standing. The
plywood, Plywood Beam SBP and Main Beams
SLT can be used again immediately in the next
cycle. That makes formwork fast and saves an
enormous quantity of formwork material.

for several formwork cycles and support the

PLY 244 (8’) alternative:

Apart from narrow supporting strips and filler
panels the whole formwork area consists of
original 1.22 x 2.44 m (4’x 8’) panels that are all
reused again after early striking. The PLY 244 (8’)
solution (with SLT 250) reduces the plywood
requirements considerably for the site.
