COURSE DESCRIPTION: A study on the adjudication process of the criminal law. While criminal procedure differs dramatically by
jurisdiction, the process generally begins with a formal criminal charge with the person on trial either being free on bail or
incarcerated, and results in the conviction or acquittal of the defendant.

Criminal Procedure is the method prescribed by law for the apprehension and prosecution of persons accused of any criminal
offense and for their punishment, in case of conviction. As applied to criminal law, procedural law provides or regulates the steps by
which one who has committed a crime is to be punished.

I. COURSE INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES (CILO)


1. Recall the fundamental concepts and principles in Criminal Procedure
2. Recognize procedural step-by-step theories and applications of the Revised Rules of Court with respect to Criminal Procedure
3. Demonstrate knowledge and application of the Court Proceedings in relation to Criminal Procedure .
II. COURSE GUIDE (course rules/instructions, Coverage inclusion Dates/schedule, grading criteria)
The entire course covers eight (8) weekly modules with specific content topics. Students are expected to fully learn the lessons and
achieve the intended learning outcomes. Two (2) big examinations; midterm and finals for term classes and four (4) big examinations
for full term classes; Prelim, midterm, semi-final and final examinations. Quizzes, class activities, oral participations, speeches, and
assignments are given to supplement student’s learning. Schedule of examinations are posted in the bulletin.
