2- Creating a base feature

The base flange tab feature is the primary sheet metal creation tool. This same tool can create
three types of flanges, based upon the input geometry provided. The most basic is an enclosed
boundary.

Looking at the Flange tool

it's exactly the same icon we used last time, which is the base flange tab icon, but instead of
using your base, which is an enclosed boundary, we're gonna use a flange, which is an open
profile.

Creating tabs
The tab command extends an existing sheet metal part

Making an edge flange

we can offset that flange all the way out. You also have the ability to go back up here to the
edge flange parameters, and choose another edge. Now, watch what happens when I do that. It
automatically creates an entire new bend with the same offset, and it creates this miter at the
corner, which does a whole lot of work.

So you do need to start with a base, a flange or a tab so you have something to add that flange
to.
Using the Edit Flange Profile tool

Flange profile can be edited and modified.

Using the Miter Flange tool

There's no more impressive or powerful tool in the sheet metal tools library than the Miter
Flange. The Miter Flange can create very complicated sheet metal shapes in a snap and correct
use of the feature can really save you a lot of time.
Making a swept flange
The swept flange tool allows you to create very complicated compound bends inside of the
sheet metal package. But be careful using this tool because a lot of times the parts you'll create
using this tool will be very difficult to manufacture and then you have to use some type of
stamping or some custom tooling or hydroform part to actually produce the parts.
