Issue 1:
Ciena Hardware Maintenance Services.
Scope.
All hardware maintenance services covering hardware warranty, return and replace and advance replacement.
Description.
To allow tracking of defective material through the repair supply chain, it is good practice when creating replacement equipment
requests, to provide the serial number of the defective part. The serial number should be provided at time of order placement through
the web or phone. On receipt of the defective part in the Ciena repair center, the specific equipment request (ER) to which the part
relates can be confirmed and full tracking through the repair process enabled.
With the changes in European Union RoHS directive (2011/65/EU) planned for July 2016, this requirement will be mandatory in the
RoHS region. Provision of serial number at time of ER creation will allow determination of RoHS compliance allowing the correct
hardware support at the correct service level for each specific defective part

It is good practice when creating replacement equipment requests (ER), to provide the serial number of the defective part.
