ECU Power Source Circuit

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
When the ignition switch is turned ON, battery positive voltage is applied to the coil, closing the contacts of
the EFI main relay (Marking: EFI) and supplying power to the terminal +B of the engine ECU.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1 Check voltage between terminals +B and E1 of engine ECU connector.

PREPARATION:
E1 +B
(a) Remove the 3 bolts from the engine ECU. (See Pub. No.
RM558E)
(b) Turn the ignition switch ON.
CHECK:
Measure voltage between terminals +B and E1 of engine ECU
connector.
OK:
A18210 Voltage: 9 − 14 V

OK Proceed to next circuit inspection shown on

problem symptoms table (See page DI−18).

NG

2 Check for open in harness and connector between terminal E1 of engine ECU
and body ground (See page IN−20).

NG Repair or replace harness or connector.

OK

3 Check EFI main relay (Marking : EFI) (See Pub. No. RM558E).

NG Replace EFI main relay.

4 Check IGN or GAUGE fuse.

R/B No.2 Center J/B PREPARATION:

(LHD) (RHD) (a) LHD models:
Remove the GAUGE fuse from the R/B No.2.
(b) RHD models:
Remove the IGN fuse from the Center R/B.

CHECK:
GAUGE
Fuse Check continuity of IGN or GAUGE fuse.
OK:
A18212 Continuity

NG Check for short in all the harness and compo-

nents connected to fuse (See attached wiring
diagram).

OK

5 Check ignition switch.

PREPARATION:
(a) Remove the lower finish panel.
(b) Disconnect the ignition switch connector.
CHECK:
Check continuity between terminals shown below.
OK:

NG Replace ignition switch.

6 Check for open in harness and connector between ignition switch and EFI main
relay, EFI main relay and body ground (See page IN−20).

NG Repair or replace harness or connector.

OK

7 Check EFI fuse.

R/B No.2 Center J/B PREPARATION:

(LHD) (RHD) (a) LHD models:
Remove the EFI fuse from the R/B No.2.
(b) RHD models:
Remove the EFI fuse from the Center J/B.
CHECK:
EFI Fuse EFI Fuse
Check continuity of EFI fuse.
OK:
A18209 Continuity

NG Check for short in all the harness and compo-

nents connected to EFI fuse (See attached wir-
ing diagram).

OK

Check for open in harness and connector between EFI main relay and battery, EFI main relay and
engine ECU.
