The inspirational hymn “Nothing Between” is our heart’s desire and prayer for each one that
applies any of the helps contained in this Biblically-based manual. May each of us
serve Him and minister to others with “nothing between”.
Smaller churches may wish to begin with just North / South regionalizing until laborers become available
(Matt. 9:37-38).
Have church secretary compile church family addresses, including zip codes and phone numbers.
Organize them into Southeast, Northeast, Southwest and Northwest regions.
On Sunday evenings, visitor / other contacts will be distributed to each team leader according to the
region where the contacts live.
Team leaders will record church family, visitors and other contacts on their Tracking Grid (next page).
Team leader is responsible for obtaining needed gospel materials for his region; mapping region for
canvassing and assigning follow-up calls (delegate as needed).
Team leaders will meet with the Pastor after the first Wednesday service of each month for a brief update
of canvassing and visits made.
NOTE: While serving primarily in their own region, members can also help through the month in other
regions as the Lord leads.

ORGANIZING NEIGHBORHOOD GOSPEL OUTREACHES
By assigning mapped out regions for members to systematically work their own neighborhoods,
you are helping them to acquire a vision for the lost and to carry out the great commission
(Matthew 28:18-20). There are also many other benefits:

EFFECTIVE NEIGHBORHOOD CANVASSING
“The wise in heart shall be called prudent . . .” Proverbs 16:21
1. Pray without ceasing (in your home, at the church, upon arrival at area, as you walk, upon departure).
2. Declare the gospel with grace, compassion, and boldness.
3. Stay focused on the mission at hand with your partner ~ avoid being sidetracked.
4. Don’t cut across lawns (avoid all appearance of evil).
5. Don’t leave literature in mailboxes, or at homes displaying a “No Soliciting” sign.
6. Secure gospel literature from wind and rain as much as possible.
7. On windy or cold days, try to work on streets that are perpendicular to the wind. (Example: If there is a
west wind, work streets that are north and south. The house and garage will minimize the wind.)
8. Don’t go to the back door.
9. Don’t leave literature where there is potential danger (terrain, out of control people or dogs).
10. Be careful about going into a stranger’s home ~ especially the elderly.
11. When knocking on a door, only one person should be on the porch. The partner should stand at the bottom
of the steps, silently praying.
12. After knocking, back off to the top step on the handle side of the door so that you can be seen from the
window. Avoid chatting with your partner while waiting.
13. Consider using the word “include” instead of “invite” when talking to a prospect about church.
14. Witness to adults only. Do not approach children in the neighborhood.
15. Never argue or be antagonistic when witnessing. Have a “harmless as doves” approach.
16. Be polite and leave the door open for the next person that will visit from the church.
17. If a partner being trained is talking and gets “stumped”, transition to the veteran partner by turning to him
and saying “Do you have anything else to add?”
18. If it is obvious no one is home (no inside lighting, no noise or cars in the drive), consider just leaving the
literature instead of waiting for someone to answer the door. You will cover much more ground.
19. You may want to bring bottled water with you.
20. Especially if you have children with you, make sure you know where the nearest accessible bathroom is
located (restaurant, library, etc.). This comes up more often than you would expect.
Vans or busses:
• Safety first ~ obey all the traffic regulations.
• Map your drop-offs to make as many right-hand turns as possible.
• Avoid having to back up.
• Drop your teams on the high side of slanted streets to conserve their energy.

DISCIPLESHIP ORGANIZATION
“And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.” Acts 5:42
(NOTE: The H.E.A.R.T. Bible study course on John is a great first step for a discipleship study.)
~ All interested (Coordinators as well as Disciplers) should fill out Discipleship Lesson One. Be
prepared ahead of time for the material that will be covered.
~ Be careful to maintain proper:
Attitude – Loyal, faithful, and caring
Behavior – Humble, an obedient servant
Focus – Stick to the material
Discipler’s Responsibilities
Qualifications: Faithful, mature church members full of Godly wisdom (James 3:17-18)
Good communications with coordinator and disciplee
Have student fill out lessons one week in advance
Know and stick to the material ~ have ongoing questions and answers over each lesson
Introduce disciplee to at least three or four other church families to integrate him into the congregation
Let coordinator know a week ahead when discipleship will be completed
Goals of Discipleship
The goal of Biblical discipleship is to train obedient followers of Christ to deny self, abide in the Word,
have fruit that remains, and love the brethren (John 15); and to carry out the great commission (Matt.
28:18-20, Acts 1:8). Discipleship should also integrate new believers into the local church where they can
see souls saved and baptized, as well as continue “stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and
in breaking of bread, and in prayers” (Acts 2:41-42).

REGIONALIZING, DISCIPLESHIP AND MINISTRY MANUAL – 6
BIBLICAL ONE ANOTHERING IN THE LOCAL CHURCH
GOAL: The church will increase when “edifying itself in love” (Ephesians 4:16). Examples of this principle:
Romans 12:10; Romans 13:8; I Thessalonians 3:12; I Thessalonians 4:9; I John 3:11 & 23; I John 4:7, 11, 12; II
John 5.
MOTIVATION: To build up the church with love and unity, serving one another. “To be like minded one toward
another, by love serve lone another” (Romans 13:8; Galatians 5:13). We are not to put down one another.
Examples of biting, devouring, consuming, provoking, envying, speaking evil, grudging one against another:
Galatians 5:26; James 4:11, 5:9.
PRINCIPLE: Abound in love one toward another, pray one for another (I Thessalonians 3:12, James 5:16)

GOOD STEWARD FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT PRINCIPLES: LESSON ONE
PUTTING GOD FIRST IN EVERY AREA
Proverbs 3:9 – “Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:”
Charles Spurgeon once said, “To earn money is easy compared with spending it well.”
To servants who were wise stewards of what God had entrusted to them, Christ said, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou
hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” (Matthew 25:21)
A. Avoid ignorance of God’s Word, and the enticements of the devil’s world. (Hosea 4:6a – “My people are
destroyed for lack of knowledge:” Proverbs 1:10 – “My son, if sinners __________________ thee, consent thou
not.”)
B. Avoid indifference about your family’s future. (Proverbs 13:22a – “A good man leaveth an ___________________
to his children's children:”)
C. Avoid impulses of the flesh and eyes. (I John 2:15-16 – “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the
world. If any man love the world, the love of the ___________________ is not in him. For all that is in the world,
the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”)
A. First in worship (Hebrews 10:25a – “Not ______________________ the assembling of ourselves together, as the
manner of some is;”)
B. First part of the day (Psalm 5:3 – “My voice shalt thou hear in the ________________________, O LORD; in the
morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.”)
C. Firstfruits of all that God entrusts to me (Proverbs 3:9 – “Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the
firstfruits of all thine _______________________:”)
D. First place in your home (Psalm 101:2-3a – “I will ___________________ myself wisely in a perfect way. O
when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. I will set no wicked thing before
mine eyes:”)
E. First place outside your home (I Timothy 3:7 – “Moreover he must have a good report of them which are
___________________; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.”)
i. Honestly (I Thessalonians 4:12 – “That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without; and that ye
may have _________________ of nothing.”)
ii. Heartily (Colossians 3:22-24 – “Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with
eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, ____________________ God; And whatsoever ye
do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward
of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.”)
iii. Helping the widows and orphans, the poor and needy (James 1:27 – “Pure religion and undefiled before
God and the Father is this, To __________________ the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to
keep himself unspotted from the world.”)
iv. Harvest in missions (II Corinthians 9:9-11 – “(As it is written, He hath ________________________
abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever. Now he that ministereth seed to
the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your
righteousness;) Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving
to God.”)
F. First place after you die (Proverbs 10:7a – “The _______________________ of the just is blessed:”)

GOOD STEWARD FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT PRINCIPLES: LESSON TWO
A PRACTICAL SPENDING PLAN – FROM MISERY TO MINISTRY!
PRUDENT: Economical; frugal; cautious; careful of consequences of enterprises, measures or actions; to foresee.
I. Have a hearty conviction that God owns all that you have and you are responsible and accountable to glorify Him in all
that you spend (Psalm 24:1, I Corinthians 1:31, I Corinthians 6:19).
II. Know what stores have the best deals on specific items.
A. List the specific items you need before you leave home.
B. Estimate what your bill will be before you leave home.
III. Seek to be PRUDENT in all your dealings. See these Proverbs:
A. 8:12a – “I ______________________ dwell with prudence,”
B. 13:16a – “Every prudent man _____________________ with knowledge:”
C. 14:8a – “The wisdom of the prudent is to _____________________________ his way:”
D. 14:15 – “The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his ___________________.” The
simple become prey to telemarketers, fast-talking salesmen, home shopping clubs, prodigals, pressure to buy it
NOW (20:21), and co-signing (6:1-4). They are lured by merchandisers’ store layouts, and get rich quick schemes
(28:20, 22).
E. 14:18 – “The simple inherit _____________________: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.”
F. 16:21a – “The wise in _____________________ shall be called prudent:”
G. 19:14b – “. . . a prudent wife is from the Lord.”
H. 22:3 and 27:12 – “A prudent man forseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are
__________________________.”
IV. Pray to the Savior who is against waste. (John 6:12b – “. . . Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.”)
Be creative with “plan-overs”. NOTE: A University of Arizona study found that 10-15% of purchased food is wasted
or thrown away. Pray:
A. For wisdom (James 1:5).
B. For specific needs (Matthew 7:7-8).
C. In the fullness of joy (John 16:24).
D. Believing that God can supply all your needs (Philippians 4:19).
V. Premeditate your strategy (Proverbs 23:2-7).
A. Avoid the yearn to spend hastily what you earn (Philippians 2:5; 4:5). Make it a practice to wait at least 24 hours
before making any major purchase.
B. Learn to yearn to glorify God in all your dealings, including what you earn (Matthew 5:16).
1. Proving what is acceptable to God (Ephesians 5:5-11; Psalm 19:14)
2. Examine heart motivations (Psalm 139:23-24)
3. Know the traps of the world (I John 2:15-17)
VI. Prepare in all aspects of discipline.
A. Don’t shop when you are hungry.
B. Stay focused: Stick to the list (I Corinthians 15:58).
C. Compare prices for the best buy.
D. 14:8 – Resist any impulsive, hasty purchases (II Corinthians 10:4-5) – you haven’t planned for them, and they will
raise your checkout bill.
E. Remember, they are put out in special displays to entice you (Proverbs 4:14, 15, 23).
F. Continually ingrain these four words in your thinking process when the impulse or “urge to splurge hits you ~ “I
DON’T NEED IT!!”
VII. Redeem the time (Ephesians 5:16).
A. Schedule all errands for one or two days per week.
B. Route your stops ~ it will save you time and gas (.86 - $1.19 per mile for transportation).
RULE: Avoid influences and personal practices that cause you to make hasty / impulsive decisions.
CONCLUSION:
• To change what you reap, you must change what you sow. Galatians 6:7-8 – “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for
whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he
that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.”
• Learn to be content. Psalm 68:19a – “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits,” and I Timothy 6:6 – “But
godliness with contentment is great gain.”

REGIONALIZING, DISCIPLESHIP AND MINISTRY MANUAL – 9
1. Memorizing Scripture IS SPECIFICALLY COMMANDED BY GOD: “And these words, which I command thee this day,
shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children . . .” (Deut. 6:6-7). “. . . lay up his words in thine
heart.” (Job 22:22).
2. Memorizing Scripture ENLIGHTENS DARKENED HEARTS: “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures,
which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” (II Tim. 3:15). The word burns and
smites (Jer. 23:29), pierces and discovers (Heb. 4:12).
3. Memorizing Scripture INFUSES CONVICTION on the standard of values and righteousness as being absolute and
unchanging: “Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way.” (Psa. 119:128).
Also Isa. 55:8-9.
4. Memorizing Scripture RESTORES BROKEN LIVES: “He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their
destructions.” (Psa. 107:20).
5. Memorizing Scripture HELPS SPIRITUAL GROWTH: “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye
may grow thereby:” (I Pet. 2:2). Scripture is “strong meat” for those who go on to Christian maturity (Heb. 5:12).
6. Memorizing Scripture MAKES FOR AN EFFECTUAL PRAYER LIFE: “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye
shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” (John 15:7).
7. Memorizing Scripture MOTIVATES SPONTANEOUS WITNESSING: “Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor
speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with
forbearing, and I could not stay.” (Jer. 20:9).
8. Memorizing Scripture PROMOTES FRUITFULNESS: “But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good
heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.” (Luke 8:15).
9. Memorizing Scripture MAKES CONTINUAL MEDITATION POSSIBLE: “But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and
in his law doth he meditate day and night.” (Psa. 1:2).
10. Memorizing Scripture AFFORDS COMFORT AND STRENGTH IN TIME OF TROUBLE: “Unless thy law had been
my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction.” (Psa. 119:92).
11. Memorizing Scripture GUARDS AGAINST SIN: “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”
(Psa. 119:11)
12. Memorizing Scripture PROVIDES WISDOM AND GUIDANCE FOR DAILY LIVING: “The wise men are ashamed,
they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD; and what wisdom is in them?” (Jer. 8:9). Also
James 3:17.
13. Memorizing Scripture EQUIPS FOR SPIRITUAL WARFARE: The covering of truth, the breastplate of righteousness,
the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, the sword of the Spirit. (Eph. 6:11-17).
14. Memorizing Scripture IS EXEMPLIFIED BY CHRIST: When tempted by the devil, He said, “It is written,” and then
gave the Scripture.

TIPS FOR VISITING THE ELDERLY, WIDOWS AND SHUT-INS
“Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their
affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.” James 1:27
1. Be a good listener. “Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to
speak . . .” James 1:19
2. Try to love, encourage, and comfort them. “Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one
another . . .” I Thessalonians 5:11
3. Try to get them to laugh. “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the
bones.” Proverbs 17:22
4. Before taking cookies or candy make sure they are not diabetic.
6. If they are an elderly shut-in, try to get them to exercise their mind by getting them to sing a
hymn, quote a familiar Scripture with you, or pray.
7. Take your children or grandchildren with you. Encourage them to make homemade cards or gifts.
10. If they are negative, depressed and you cannot cheer them up make your visit brief.
11. Visit with the intention of being a blessing to them, but do not be surprised if they are more of a
blessing to you.

REGIONALIZING, DISCIPLESHIP AND MINISTRY MANUAL – 13
MINISTRY IDEAS FROM THE HOME
“Work smarter, not harder!” The key is not to necessarily set aside a whole day, or portion of a day, to do
any of the following things, but to become so aware of opportunities that you are able to “feather” them
into what you are already doing. It will only take a small amount of “extra” time, but will be well worth
the effort. You will encourage others, and you will be encouraged yourself.
• Send an e-mail. The easiest and quickest way to let someone know you are thinking of and/or
praying for them. This is an especially great tool to encourage missionaries or those serving the
Lord in distant locations. Have a list of e-mail addresses and rotate through it until you’ve written
to all ~ then start over again! A wonderful way to keep informed about specific needs friends /
missionaries have, and can be done in just a few minutes. No stamp is needed, no trip to the
mailbox. Just press enter!
• Send a card. Assemble postcards, cards, stamps, address labels, and address book all in one
convenient place. If you put these items in something portable, it would be a great thing to take
with you when you anticipate time in a waiting room!
• Make a phone call. Jot down the individual’s phone number, then call while you are washing
dishes, packing lunches, folding laundry, etc. If you have a cell phone, take it with you when you
run errands and make an encouraging call while you wait (for a prescription to be filled, for a child
taking a music lesson, at soccer practice, etc.).
• Take a meal. When preparing meals for your own family, consider making a double batch and
freezing the extra in a disposable pan. When a need arises (a funeral, a new baby, an illness), you
will be well on your way to putting a meal together right out of your own freezer.
• When you make treats or other bakery for your own family, wrap and freeze some in smaller
portions. Use these when you or a family member will be seeing someone in need of
encouragement. Being frozen is not a problem ~ food will stay fresh until you need it, and will
thaw before you get where you’re going. Plan ahead of time to make a batch of zucchini, banana,
or some other quick bread your family enjoys. Double the batch, and bake some in muffins or
“personal-sized” loaves. (Most dollar stores sell inexpensive aluminum foil disposable pans.)
• Run an errand. When you are going to do your own grocery shopping, allow a little extra time
when possible. Call a widow or shut-in who lives in the area where you will be shopping, and ask
if you can pick up something for them. Even if they say no, they will be thrilled that you offered.
If they do need something, praise God for the opportunity to be used of Him to meet that need.
You are shopping anyway ~ it won’t take long to pick up a few extra items. On the way home,
drop them off, and spend as much time as you are able visiting with the widow or shut-in. You
might pray, share a Scripture, bring a tape of a preaching service from the church, or bring some
home-made treat for them to enjoy.
• If your schedule permits, offer to take someone who has no other transportation to doctor’s
appointments. On the way home, stop for an inexpensive lunch out ~ they will certainly enjoy the
opportunity to get out for awhile.
• Make a visit. Call and ask if they have time for a visit. If you’ve prepared ahead of time and have
something to take them, this would be a great time to take something along! If they are not able
to visit, or do not feel well, they will still appreciate the fact that you tried. Ask if they have any
