COMPANY PROFILE
CA-MI is an Italian family-run factory founded in the early 80’s and
committed in the production of electromedical equipments, such
as SURGICAL SUCTION UNITS for the aspiration of human and
animal fluids, used by home-care, hospital, emergency and aesthetic
professionals, AEROSOL DELIVERY SYSTEMS used in aerosoltherapy
for the treatment of respiratory pathologies, and INHALATORS for
hot-humid therapies in the upper airways management. Other medical
devices such as diagnostics, body temperature management, TENS
devices and antidecubitus products complete the vast range.
The expertise and know-how achieved with over 30 years of
experience make today CA-MI in the position to export to more
than 100 countries and provide comprehensive answers to medical
operators. The recent acquisition of new and larger premises nearby
Parma -in the North of Italy-, increased the production capacity and
the logistic service to keep pace with the growing demand of its
products.
With innovating Italian design, CA-MI suction devices and
compressor nebulizers are available in different sizes, configurations
and performances to cover all possible applications in the medical
field of fluid aspiration and aerosoltherapy. CA-MI is also one of the
most preferred partners in the marketplace for OEM-basis supplies.
Visitors are welcome to meet CA-MI Export Team on occasion of the
major international exhibitions such as Medica in Dusseldorf (D) or
Arab Health in Dubai (UAE), where we are costantly present with our
entire range of medical devices.
QUALITY
Relying on in-house R&D and design departments, all CA-MI
suction devices and compressor nebulizers are manufactured in Italy
using state-of-the-art and wear resistant materials, in compliance with:
UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 and EN ISO 13485:2016 normatives and
carry relevant CE 0123 number certified by German Notified Body
TÜV SÜD Product Service GmbH.
The high standards of quality recently allowed CA-MI suction units,
aerosol delivery systems, hot-steam inhalators and breast pump to
meet the requirements of the latest EN 60601-1-11 “for use in the
home healthcare environment, regardless of whether the medical
electrical equipment or medical electrical system is intended for use
by a lay operator or by trained healthcare personnel” and to be
classified with IP21 being “the degree of protection provided against
the intrusion (including body parts such as hands and fingers), dust,
accidental contact, and water in mechanical casings and with
electrical enclosures.”

INTRODUCTION
Intended Use
Electric suction units are medical devices used in wards, theaters, ambulances, home-care and other fields for
aspirating human or animal fluids from the mouth, the airways and from operation sites by sucking the material
through a cannula into a collection jar. Mobile electric suction units offer a convenient alternative to central vacuum
systems.
CA-MI suction units are divided into 3 main categories:

NEW ASKIR 118 is an electric medical device for the nasal, oral and tracheal aspiration of body fluids in children or adults. It is available
in two configurations, one specifically designed for use in ambulance car and emergency and the other for home-care and hospital
applications. Large LCD for clear reading of vacuum values along with soft keys for vacuum adjustment increase the accuracy of
aspiration. Smart operation thanks to the combination of the lightweight lithium-ion battery with the innovating FEEDBACK system that
controls and manages the power of aspiration, providing a long autonomy of the battery and quiet noise level during operation. The
PROXIMITY function to switch ON or OFF the device without touch prevents and avoids cross-contamination in-between patients. The unit
is equipped with a long-life brushless motor eliminating any type of smell and coal residuals. The NEW ASKIR 118 series is available with
various options of jar materials, such as the autoclavable polycarbonate (121°C), or the FLOVAC® disposable liners, or the APEC® that
can resist up to 143°C. The ambulance wall mount is 10g dynamically tested according to the EN 1789:2007 last edition European Norm.

For environments where a battery back up is required, NEW HOSPIVAC BR is the unique solution for surgeons and professionals, providing
high performances along with the internal rechargeable battery capable of operating the unit for for more than 4 hours in absence of mains

SUPPORT RING
A support ring with a spring clip allows the suction
tube to be easily fixed in to avoid obstructions.
The disposable soft LINER is made in polyethylene and is hermetically welded to a rigid lid inside which the hydrophobic, antireflux
and antibacterial filter is placed. This filter also operates as overflow valve system deactivating suction whenever maximum fill capacity
is reached. The liner has to be placed in its dedicated reusable and autoclavable FLOVAC® rigid CONTAINER in policarbonate.
FLOVAC® systems replace therefore the use of autoclavable jars, decreasing the costs for cleaning and sterilization. A full line of
accessories make FLOVAC® line the ideal partner for collecting liquids and fluids.

INTRODUCTION
Aerosoltherapy is the administration of a treatment in the form of an aeorosol into the respiratory tract for
therapeutic purposes. When medications are not available in aerosol form such as an MDI’s, but only in
solutions, then nebulizers can turn the liquid into suspended particles that carry the active principle to the patient
by inhalation.
CA-MI pneumatic aerosol delivery systems are composed by a compressor generating pressurized air and a jet
nebulizer where the solution is turned into aerosol. Noiseless vibrating mesh and ultrasonic technologies are also
available.
Different types of treatments can be generated, according to a few parameters, namely:

the mean particle size: MMD or MMAD expressed in micron (µm)
the speed of nebulization: NEB-RATE expressed in ml/min
the amount of RESPIRABLE FRACTION: quantity of particles with diameter <5µm
the amount of medication that cannot be nebulized: RESIDUAL VOLUME
the amount of medication wasted during exhalation phase: WASTED VOLUME
The MMAD is particularly important, because depending on diameter of the particles, different areas of the
respiratory tract are reached and thus different pathologies or disorders can be treated.

HI-4 is a reusable and highly efficient nebulizer, compatible with the great majority of compressors available in the market and with
hospital central systems of pressurized air. Efficient with any kind of medication and with max capacity of 8 ml, HI-4 nebulizer has been
designed with valve system for a greater therapeutical effect of the nebulization. In fact, the inhalation valve (A) opens only during
inhalation phase, entraining additional ambient air into the chamber to create a second “Venturi effect” and increasing dramatically the
speed and quantity of medication delivered to the patient. At the same time, the exhalation valve (B) remains closed decreasing the volume
of medication wasted in the ambient, and opens only during the exhalation phase to let the medication out. On top of the HI-4, a speed
selector (C) can be set in 4 different positions to increase speed of nebulization up to 100%, while maintaining an optimal MMAD. HI-4
passed compatibility test with the most prescribed active principles, such as Ambroxol, Salbutamol, Beclometasone Dipropionate,
Acetylcysteine and Budesonide.
