1 General
The remote FU tiller (dual) is used on the bridge to steer a course and is installed at the vessel
control panel or navigating stand (F OLLOW U P). Two remote FU tillers are needed at all
times to act as dual tillers for twin rudder equipment with separate rudder blade control.
Either of two operating modes – SYNCHRONOUS or INDEPENDENT -- may be selected.
The scale graduation is ± 35 ° , as standardand the control knob deflection angle is ± 60 °. The
control knob is slightly engaged when it is at the mechanical zero position. The scale is
illuminated.
In order to change the rudder angle (e.g. to starboard) turn the control knob clockwise.
The effect on steering is similar to that of a hand wheel.
Operating instructions
These operating instructions contain every operational procedure as well as information about
behaviour when alarms occur. Such alarms are indicated on the digital display units and also by
means of flashing LEDs and audible alarm signals.
Service manual
In addition to the operating manual, there is also a service manual. It contains the following:
-- Information relating to installation and initial start-up
-- Information relating to maintenance and repairs, and
-- a description of the tiller
BG--Bus*)
Rudder 1 Rudder 2
*) specific to Raytheon Marine
Each operating procedure shown must be completed step by step. Where necessary and in the
relevant sections, we have added useful supplementary notes alongside the illustrations
(symbols).
We recommend that you fold out the appendix page since it contains an illustration of all the
controls and indications.

1*) Once alarms E2 and E5 have been acknowledged the display reverts to standard
rudder position display, so that the rudder position can continue to be adjusted.
The luminous alarm diode changes from flashing to permanently lit and remains
illuminated until the fault has been rectified.
The error code can be retrieved by pressing the alarm key at any time while the
display is active.

Warning messages occur if the remote FU tiller (dual) is activated without previously activating tiller control, which means
that steering control is ineffective from this tiller. The audible alarm stops, the LED is permanently illuminated until the fault is rectified
