use the netiquette.

What is your personal opinion about the Internet in general?

 Internet is a tool that today has evolved in the technological world, each time the
advancement of science unites the entire planet and different users in connection.

Discuss why people depend on technology today.

 Technology has presented new challenges for today's families, especially in terms
of communication, but it also offers new ways of living together. First of all, we
must focus on the fact that technologies are tools that offer us alternatives, so we
must use them to our advantage and understand the role they play in the lives of our
loved ones. As parents, it is important to understand that children are not “born with
the built-in chip”, knowing how to operate and manipulate a gadget (which, it is
worth saying, is precisely designed to operate intuitively) does not mean that they
know how to use it responsibly and ethics. As parents, we must provide guidance
for our children and understand the networks that are available to them.

I currently work for the company ACCIONES & VALORES, WESTER UNION agent in
Colombia, I hold the position of support, call center consultancy.
I am currently studying at the National Learning Service SENA in the accounting & financial
management technology career.
I complement my studies with a technician culminating in safety and health at work,
additionally I have a complementary virtual course in the sena of 50 hours in human talent
management.

1.1. Speaking practice
Now, practice your oral skills and prepare a discussion about advantages and disadvantages
of Internet and Technology. Take a position and support your ideas according to the group
established by the teacher and then, compare and contrast your insights with your partners’
opinions

Undoubtedly, the internet and social networks revolutionized the way of communicating,
since it allowed to enhance the simultaneity and immediacy of information, but mainly due
to the possibility of “uploading”, systematizing and classifying information in a common
virtual space . At present, we are not talking about the media, but about the media, thus
moving from a traditional scheme to an interactive, changing and dynamic process.
  Advantage:

 Makes communication much easier.

 It is possible to meet and interact with many people from all over the world.

 The search for information becomes much easier, without having to go forcibly to
traditional libraries.

 The computer is regularly updated easier than if we did not have internet.

 Disadvantages

minors.

In 1958, the United States created the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency
(ARPA because of its name in English) with the aim of being able to address technological
challenges in the military and defense field. In addition, this body was in charge of
researching new technologies with applications for this area.

Later, in 1962, the researcher Paul Baran designed a communication system whereby,
through computers connected to a decentralized network, he was immune to external
attacks. This system found its basis in Leonard Kleinrock's study of the theory of packet
computing.

Thanks to the next investigations in this field, in 1965 it was possible to connect a TX2
computer in Massachusetts with a Q-32 in California by means of a low speed switched
telephone line. Thus, with this great achievement, the first wide area network (WAN) in
history was achieved.

Nowadays it is easier to communicate over the internet, send and receive data than to make
phone calls and communicate through conventional letters. It allows studying in schools
located at considerable distances, streamlines procedures and information transfers, etc.
The internet is today an instrument that can be played from almost anywhere in the
world.The internet is applied to consult, learn, entertain ourselves; even as a source of
work.

Who was the Internet inventor?

 Joseph Carl Robnett Licklider Considered one of the most important figures in
computer science and computer history, he pioneered the Internet, with an early
vision of a global computer network long before it was built. He did his best to
make it happen through funding for research, including the graphical user interface,
ARPANET, and the direct predecessor of the Internet.
When was the e-mail created?

 The email was generated in its first appearance or antecedent in the year 1971

What kind of function did Netscape use to have on the Internet?

 It uses a rendering engine that loads text and graphics at the same time, as opposed
to other browsers that load text first and graphics second.

 This helps especially with slow connections, such as dial-up access.

 Also, it uses the cache to save a visited page to disk, making future access to that
page faster.

What did you understand for “dial- up” according to the video?

 This type of connection is based on the use of traditional telephone lines to transport
data packets and provide users with access to the web.

How do you think Internet has changed your lifestyle?

The Internet has been an instrument that has come to change society in general. It is the
fastest means of communication used today, and we can do practically everything through
it, becoming indispensable in our lives.

We see that in situations as simple as reading a book they have come to be replaced by the
Internet, now it is much easier to access blogs or sites where you can download any number
of books at a low cost or even for free.

There are some who say that this tool has come to affect our lives, making us monotonous
beings, sitting in front of a computer all day, affecting our personal relationships, apart
from this, our privacy is put at risk in social networks, since we share our life and interests
with the whole public.

In the workplace, we can say that the Internet has come to revolutionize since now, we can
even work from our homes. The sending of documents, the search for infinite information
and the speed of updating of any city or country has greatly favored this area. The world is
increasingly globalized thanks to the Internet.

What can you say about communication through internet?

Achieving communication through the Internet is one of the largest telecommunications in

the world, its importance lies in the fact that through it we can obtain fast and effective
information on various topics, without moving from home or from the side of your
computer, this among infinities of applications that we can use.
The great speed with which the Internet has expanded and popularized in recent years has
led to a very important revolution in the world of communications, causing changes in
many aspects of society. What is known today as the Internet is actually a set of
independent networks (local and wide area) that are connected to each other, allowing the
exchange of data and therefore constituting a global network that is the ideal medium for
the exchange of information, distribution of data of all kinds and personal interaction with
other people.

In truth as such, the great meaning or role that the internet is in our society generates a great
debate of the advantages and disadvantages for each child, adolescent and adult, the only

ARPANET was a computer network created at the request of the United States Department
of Defense (DOD) to use it as a means of communication between different academic and
state institutions.

in a technological career, accounting, financial management, I work in a call center support
customer service in a stock broker in the city of Bogota.
From my opinion technology is a fundamental part in human life and in society. The
Internet is an important communication tool every time in constant advance of time,
technology brings us closer to everything that once there was no science for its discovery of
some topic or reality to be treated.
