TROUBLE SHOOTING FOR ALARMS & MESSAGES – VERTICAL TWIN ARM ATC
Cause:
• Air Supply to the machine is less than the required pressure
Remedy:
• Ensure required air pressure is maintained, press reset to clear the alarm. If Alarm
repeats then take corrective action as per the below Check Points
Check point: Check for Air pressure on the Main incoming pressure gauge.
Step 2: Ensure Electrical and Pneumatic connection are given properly as per circuit
YES: Pressure switch might be at fault or Setting is disturbed.
NO: Ensure connection as per the circuit, check for the input signal X7.2=1 in the PMC status
screen
Remedy:
• Clear any emergency occurred and press Feed ON PB to clear this alarm. If Alarm is not
cleared then take corrective action as per the below Check Points
Step 1: Check for the Input Signal X8.4=1 in the PMC status screen.
YES: Go to Step 2

NO: Ensure connection as per the circuit
Step 3: Check Feed ON PB input signal X3.6=1 in the PMC status screen.
YES: Alarm will get cleared
NO: Ensure connection as per the circuit
Remedy:
• Clear any emergency occurred and press Feed ON PB to clear this alarm. If Alarm is not
cleared then take corrective action as per the below Check Points
Step 1: Check for the Input Signal X8.4=1 in the PMC status screen.
YES: Go to Step 2
NO: Ensure the emergency circuit as per the circuit
Step 3: Check Feed ON PB input signal X3.6=1 in the PMC status screen.
YES: Alarm will get cleared
NO: Ensure connection as per the circuit.
Cause:
• Cabinet temperature may be high, magazine or arm motor may be over heated.
• Tool life of a group may be over.
• Required number of component is finished.
Remedy:
• Check the messages on operator message screen and clear the same
Cause:
• Machine lock function was used.
Remedy:
• Switch off the machine power and switch ON the machine.
Cause:
• In machine ready condition, if spindle and axes is not running for a predefined time then
machine automatically goes to power save mode.
Remedy:
• Press any of emergency push button and release the same and then press feed on PB to
come out from power save mode.
Cause:
• Butt type axes reference is done on machine
Remedy:
• Switch off the machine and then switch ON.
Cause:
• Vertical axis current sensing unit may be faulty
• When servo is not ready, Input X10.1=1
Remedy:
1. First clear emergency, then Press emergency PB. If alarm repeats then goto Step point 1
2. If connections are OK, replace the current sensing unit and check.
Step 1: Press emergency PB and then check the input X10.1=0on PMC status screen
YES: Alarm will not come in auto cycle.
NO: Check the electrical connection as per circuit. The elements in consideration arecurrent
sensing relay.
Cause:
• Tool number called is greater than the actual magazine size
Remedy:
• Reset the message, then Select the tool within the magazine size and continue the cycle.
Cause:
• Tool is not loaded to the spindle OR Tool is not clamped properly for machine operation.
• No tool in spindle proximity malfunctioning
Remedy:
• Reset the alarm, then load the tool on to the spindle and then continue the cycle. If the
alarm repeats with tool present in the spindle then take corrective action as per the
below Check Points
Step 1: Load tool to the spindle properly. Then check the input X4.6=0(No tool in spindle on PMC status
screen)
YES: Alarm will not come in auto cycle.
NO: Set the proximity signal X4.6 = 0 as tool present in the spindle. If can’t able to set the
proximity signal to “0”, then go to step2.
Cause:
• Tool number called is not found in tool directory.
Remedy:
• Reset the message, then enter the specified tool in tool directory and continue the cycle.
Cause:
• During magazine referencing, magazine reference proximity switch signal is not ON at
pocket number 1.
Remedy:
• Reset the message, then do magazine index in jog mode. If alarm repeats then take
corrective action as per the below Check Points
Check point 1:Check for magazine reference proximity signal X5.0=1 at the pocket number 1
Step 1: Move the magazine to pocket number 1.Then check the input X5.0=1 on PMC status screen.
YES: Do magazine index in jog mode, alarm will get cleared.
NO: Go to Step 2
Step 2: Check for proper setting of the Proximity sensor at pocket number 1
YES: Go to step 3
NO: Set the proximity sensor properly. Signal X5.0=1at pocket number 1.
Cause:
• While magazine referencing time, magazine reference proximity switch signal always
one.
• While magazine referencing time, magazine reference proximity malfunctioning.
Remedy:
• Reset the message, then check the magazine reference proximity as per below said check
point.
Check point 1: Check for magazine reference proximity signal X5.0=1 at the pocket number 1

Step 1: Move the magazine to pocket number 1.Then check the input x5.0=1 on PMC status screen.
YES: Index the magazine then go to step2
NO: check the electrical connection as per circuit and also ensure the working of proximity
sensor
Step 2: Index the magazine and check the input x5.0=0 on PMC status screen.
YES: Index the magazine then check the proximity signal become zero until pocket number 1
reached.
NO: check the electrical connection as per circuit and also ensure the working of proximity
sensor
Cause:
• While magazine in rotation, magazine reference proximity switch signal always one.
• While magazine in rotation, magazine reference proximity malfunctioning.
Remedy:
• Reset the message, then check the magazine reference proximity as per below said check
point.
Check point 1: Check for magazine reference proximity signal X5.0=1 at the pocket number 1
and X5.0=0 other than pocket number 1.
Step 1: Move the magazine to pocket number 1.Then check the input x5.0=1 on PMC status screen.
YES: Go to step2
NO: check the electrical connection as per circuit and also ensure the working of proximity
sensor
Step 2: Index the magazine to next position and check the input x5.0=0 on PMC status screen.
YES: Index the magazine and check the proximity signal x5.0=0 until pocket number 1
reached.
NO: check the electrical connection as per circuit and also ensure the working of proximity
sensor

Remedy:
• Check the alarm number visible in drive and solve the same with the help of drive
manual. Switch OFF the machine power and then switch ON and continue the cycles.
Cause:
• While the axes moving in specified feed rate and without spindle running.
Remedy:
• Reset the alarm, then check the program and ensure to give spindle command along with
feed command and then continue the cycle.
Cause:
• Tool clamp signal (tool is not properly clamped) is not ON for spindle rotation.
Remedy:
• Reset the alarm, then unclamp the tool from spindle by using manual tool unclamp
method. Clean the tool and load the same to the spindle. Check the spindle running in
MDI mode. If alarm repeated go to check point 1.
Check point 1: Check tool clamp proximity signal X7.4=1 in tool clamped condition.
Step 1: load the tool in spindle and check the input X7.4=1 on PMC maintenance screen.
YES: Alarm will not come under auto cycle.
NO: check the electrical connection as per circuit and also ensure the working of proximity
sensor.

Address: A6.4
Cause:
• Index table position called is greater than the actual index table size
Remedy:
• Reset the message, then check the program and give index table command with in the
index table size and continue the cycle.
Cause:
• Commanded Index table position could not reach within the specified time.
Remedy:
• Reset the message, and then follow the check points.
Check point 1: Index table motor rotate in forward direction when indexed in jog mode, in
Auto/MDI mode motor will rotate in forward/reverse direction depending upon the shortest
path. Go to Step 1
Step 1: Check the Index Table motor rotate as per check point 1.
YES: Go to check point 2
NO: Check the electrical connection as per circuit, supply to the motor. The elements in
consideration are MPCB, Contactor, SSR & Motor
Check point 2: If Index table is indexed in jog mode, index to next position is in forward direction
and stops after index table clamp proximity is sensed. If this condition is not happening Goto to
Step 2
Step 2: Check the Index Table Clamp input X33.0=1 on PMC status screen during index table
rotation.
YES: Go to check point3
NO: Check the electrical connection as per circuit and also ensure the working of proximity
sensor

Check point 3: If Index table is indexed in Auto/MDI mode, index to required position and stops
after position is reached with index table strobe and index table clamp proximity sensed. If this
condition is not happening Go to Step 3
Step 3: Check the Index Table Strobe input X32.6=1 on PMC status screen during index table
rotation.
YES: Go to Step 4
NO: Check the electrical connection as per circuit and also ensure the working of encoder signal
Step 4: Check the correct Index Table feedback signals on X32 on PMC status screen by index
each position in jog mode
YES: There is no problem
NO: Check the electrical connection as per circuit and also ensure the proper feedback is coming
from encoder
Cause:
• Index table motor over heated, thermal contact open.
Remedy:
• Switch OFF the machine. Check for motor over heat.
Check point 1: Index table motor is provided with a thermal overload relay which opens when
motor gets over heated. Go to Step 1
Step 1: Remove the index table cover and check the index table motor for over heat
YES: Check whether motor is getting overload due to duty cycle or fixture/component is
overweight or internal problem in the index table.
NO: check the electrical connection as per circuit. The elements in consideration are thermal
overload relay & AC relay

Cause:
• Index table clamp or index table strobe signal is missing in stop condition.
Remedy:
• Reset the message, and then press index table inch push button in jog mode to index the
index table to clamp position. If alarm repeats then go to Check point 1
Check point 1: index table clamp input X33.0=1 OR index table strobe input X32.6=1 is missing
during motor stop with the above alarm Go to Step 1
Step 1: Check the index clamp input X33.0=1, index table strobe input X32.6=1 on PMC status
screen.
YES: continue the cycle.
NO: check the electrical connection as per circuit. The elements in consideration are clamp
proximity, motor encoder and SSR.
Effect: In Auto/MDI mode, cycle will not run. In jog mode index table will not rotate
Cause:
• Without index table connected, index table command was given
Remedy:
• Connect the index table and then run the program or if index table is not needed for your
operation then please remove the ‘B’ commands from the program.
Step 2: check the index table connected input X32.5=1on PMC status screen.
YES: problem will not come under auto cycle running
NO: check the electrical connection as per circuit.

Remedy:
• Before giving the index table command, ensure Z axis is in reference position.

• Index table ‘0’ command given
Remedy:
• Index table ‘0’ command is not possible. Give the correct command and then continue
the cycle.

• Index table position feedback parity comparison failed
Remedy:
• Reset the message and then check the correctness of index table position feedback signal
from the encoder as per check point1
Check point 1: Rotate index table in jog mode and check the correctness of feedback
signal for each position. If feedback is not correct Goto step1
Step 1: Check the encoder feedback signals are correct by indexing each position in jog mode.
YES: Then Go to step2.
NO: Check the electrical connection as per circuit. The elements in consideration is encoder
Step 2: Check the encoder strobe signal is set properly. Strobe signal should be at center for every
indexed position.
YES: Go to step3.
NO: Do the strobe setting
Step 3: Give index table reverse command in MDI for each position and if alarm repeats.

YES: Encoder may be faulty.
NO: Continue the cycle
Cause:
• Lubrication fault has occurred
Remedy:
•Press LUB inch PB up to 4sec for lubrication motor on. If alarm gets cleared continue the
cycle .if alarm is not cleared, check any lubrication message appeared on the screen. Do
as per the message said to overcome this stage

Cause:
• Pallet not in clamped condition on Linear APC machine.
Remedy:
Reset the message and then clamp the pallet manually and then continue the operation. If
message repeats follow the below said check points
Check point 1: Check Pallet clamp/declamp in Jog mode using APC MOP.
Step 1: Clamp the pallet (Y19.0=1) and check the pallet clamp pressure switch signal X19.2=1 on the
PMC status screen
YES: Problems will not occur. Continue the operation
NO: 1. Ensure Pallet clamp solenoid is ON.
2. Ensure mechanical actuation of the clamp/declamp solenoid valve
3. Ensure the setting pressure of Pallet clamp pressure switch X19.2=1
Check the connections as per the electrical circuit diagram. The elements in consideration are
Relay board, pressure switch sensor and solenoid valve. Rectify the problem and then continue
the cycle.

• If you want to continue the program running in DNC mode, then press FEED ON PB for the
conformation and follow the DNC operation procedure. Otherwise switch off the DNC selector

Message: “CYCLE WILL START ONLY IF BOTH DOUBLE HAND PUSH BUTTONS ARE PRESSED TOGETHER..”
Cause:
• Only one of the PB on double hand PB box is pressed for cycle start
• One of the double hand PB input is failed
Remedy:
• Reset the message and then Press both PB on double hand PB box at the same time. If message
repeats, check the proper connection as per electrical circuit diagram, loose connection etc.

Cause:
• CNC output signal is shorted or overloaded.
Remedy:
• Check the diagnostic screen on CNC system and find out any bit in X15, X31, X47 & X63 byte
is high. If X15.0 is high then Y0 byte is short, X15.1 is high then Y1 byte is short and X31.0 is
high then Y16 byte is short and so on. If you are find out the output byte which one is shorted as
per above said method, then check the hardware connection of that byte as per the electrical
circuit diagram.

some other mode.
Remedy:

Step 1: Check the cabinet temperature on the digital controller provided on the Air cooler. If alarm
indication is observed
YES: check the proper working of air cooler
NO: Go to check point 2
Check point 2: Magazine motor/ATC arm motor is provided with a thermistor which opens when
motor gets overheated. Go to Step 2
Step 2: check whether Magazine motor/ATC arm motor for over heat
YES: Check whether motor is getting overload due to duty cycle,tool is overweight or internal
problem in the magazine and arm.
NO: Check the electrical connection as per circuit. The elements in consideration are thermistor,
AC relay & Air cooler digital controller

NO: Check the brake circuit as per electrical connection circuit. The elements in consideration
are AC relay, current sensing relay, DC relay and axis motor brake.

Cause:
• Lubricant level in the lubrication unit is low.
Remedy:
• Fill the tank with specified lubricant. If the message is not cleared go to check point1.
Check point 1: Fill the tank with specified lubricant, check input X4.0=1

inch PB
YES: check the electrical connections as per circuit. The elements in consideration are pressure
switch (X4.1=1, while pressure is developed)
NO: Go to step 2
Step 3: Check the lubrication motor rotating or not while pressing lub inch PB
YES: check the direction of motor will be same as arrow mark shown on motor. If direction is not
correct, change the phase sequence of motor.
NO: check the electrical connections as per circuit. The elements in consideration are
MCB/MPCB & contactor.
