Story line or plot: The title itself already catches my attention since I’m obsessed with movie or series
related to law. I fell in love with this movie since there are lot of lesson in it and it really portray reality of
law school experience. Bar boys is indeed perfect especially for students who’s planning to go to law
school, bar takers, or even for barkada since this is a story of a group of friends who take an entrance
exam to a prestigious law school. Cristian, Erik, and Toran passed however Cristian didn’t make it. So
one of them which is Cristian pursue his passion in modelling instead while the others continue their
journey in law school. So this is when the real struggle begins because like they say, in law school, it is a
survival of the fittest.
Each character faced different adversity which most of us student can also relate. Cristian is the rich kid
in the movie, he is also an achiever that’s why his dad pressure him to have an excellent grade. Aside
from the pressure he is also having a hard time with his girlfriend because of time management. Erik on
the other hand is someone who’s not that smart, his English is not that good as well as his memory that is
why he struggle to get a good grade. In the movie you can see how tough Erik’s life is since his father is a
security guard and law school indeed cost a lot but his the most inspiring one for his hard work to get
through his problem. While Toran is someone who has a great memory but he always thinks highly of
himself but when he enter a frat that is when he learn to follow. His support system is also admirable.

This movie is highly recommended; I really love the story since it is a lighthearted film. Bar boys is a
story of a group of friends and their journey to law school. The movie highlighted the continuous struggle
and perseverance of law students to survive the dreadful academics until they achieve the golden status of
“Attorney “. There is indeed a lot of details to take note of and lesson to learn since it aims to tell
meaningful truth on different topics.
The movie started when the school application result came out, among the four one of them, Joshua
(Kean Cipriano) doesn’t make it in, so he pursues his passion in modeling instead while the others
continue their journey in law school. So this is when the real struggle began because like they say, in law
school, it is a survival of the fittest.
Each character faced different adversity, contrasting circumstances, and fighting their inner conflicts.
First is Kris (Enzo Pineda) who comes from a wealthy family, he is also an A-student who has an option
to study at Harvard but he chooses to take up law in the Philippines partly because he wants to be
proximity with the girlfriend which his father doesn’t know about. He always wanted to meet his father’s
expectation that’s why he struggled a lot to have an excellent grade that he ended up losing his time for
his girlfriend that lead to break up. Next is Torran (Rocco Nacino) which is from a large middle-class
family that serves as his support system. Torran is an overconfident and sharp tongue but he has a great
memory which is his huge advantage in law school. Everything seems to fall into place for him until he
witnesses one of his fraternity brother abused neophyte and is torn between reporting the offense or
preserving his seat in the brotherhood. While Erik (Carlo Aquino) comes from a working class family, his
father is a security guard and he indeed struggles financially. He is also someone who’s not good in
English as well as his memory that is why he also had difficulty academically.
The movie really portrayed the reality of law school experience. School episodes told about the terrifying
professors and their various idiosyncrasies. The movie also showed the spontaneous recitation sessions in
law school. They also give a glimpse into that controversial topic about fraternity and the sensitive issue
of hazing. The no-string-attached hookup culture and one-night-stand is also convey. The movie also
exhibit how far friends will go and importance of support system.
The cast did their role in the most familiarly prolific way-setting the balance between authentic gags and
the universality of affiliation and passion. The natural humor of each cast sets the vivid mood for each
scene. May it be a conyo-related joke or millennial street comedy, the timing is always on point and that
makes the viewer feel like they are part of their dynamic friendship. The moment as well of father and
son (Erick) makes me emotional by their subtleties in expression and terrific sincere acting. The film
definitely leave you rooted to the complexity of one’s emotion and superior capacity.
The setting takes place in San Beda University which indeed give us that law school vibe. The classroom
setting also picture how the environment change from naivety of beginning as a freshman until master-of-
all during senior year. The atmosphere during bar exam is also exhibit in the movie since it is an actual
footage shot during the 2015 bar examination.
Bar Boys is reasonably a must watch! Most people could definitely relate to certain scene in their
personal or academic life. The film provides genuine and poignant scenes with legitimate story line that
leaves you hanging and yearning for more.
