Task1 Teaching Online Observation and Reflection Task
One of the best ways to learn how to teach is to observe others. During these next two weeks, you have
an amazing opportunity to learn about online teaching and learning. During this TP experience, you will
observe lessons each week and complete observations and reflections that will become evidence of your
learning for your TP report.
When teaching online there are some basic elements of good teaching practice such as:
Student/teaching interaction
Effective Instruction
Active and personalized learning
Assessment
Effective use of technology
Instructions:
Use this observational form to observe the lessons. For each lesson you observe or assist with
please complete this reflection and observation sheet.
Choose five of the questions in each domain to help with your observation and reflection.
Keep the name of the teacher anonymous.
Teacher/Student Interactions:
1. Did the class promote student interaction via discussions and/or collaborative assignments?
- Yes, students were interacting well.
2. Do students actively participate?
- Most of the class did.
3. Did the teacher encourage students to introduce themselves to one another informally and to
post short bios and photos?
- Not really, she just greets the class then start her lesson.
4. Do students engage with one another Did the teacher encourage all students to participate
and ask open-ended questions to prompt engagement and draw out shyer students?
- No, the teacher just let the students who want to answer, but if they don’t want to
answer or participate, she didn’t ask them.
5. Did the teacher seem to express enthusiasm in engaging with students and the content?
- The teacher always starts her lesson with excitement and happy face and she also in that
with very happy emotions and smiley face. Also, she gives them a good reinforcements
and feedback when they answer.
6. Are the classroom dynamics respectful?
- Yes.

Effective Instruction:
1. What were the learning objectives of the lesson?
- Listen to letter sounds and words / letter h.
2. Did the teacher present clear objectives or plans for the lesson?
- Yes.
3. How clearly did the teacher communicate the objectives or plans to the students?
- After greeting the students, teacher read the learning outcomes.
4. How the instructor carry out the objectives?
- Teacher give a clear and simple instructions, also she give a good activates.
5. Did the teacher use various presentation formats (i.e., text, graphics, digital slides, video), to
appeal to different student learning styles and abilities?
- Teacher always use songs in her lessons. She presents her lessons using PowerPoint.
6. Does the teacher approach difficult concepts in a variety of ways: e.g., written English
explanations, ASL explanations, use of photos, animation, graphs or charts?
- Not really. Teacher keeps presenting and explain the activates.
7. Did the teacher model or explain different concepts?
- Yes.
8. Was there a clear connection/relationship between the objectives, content and the material?
- Yes.

- Yes, teacher give writing activates for English lessons they write the letter of the week,
also for math lessons they writ the numbers.

problems?
- Not really, but sometimes she gives the students the chance to explain their answer.
3. Were students engaged in collaborative learning activities?
- Yes.

- No.

4. – there are some classes class the “support classes” in this class they assess the students and
give them some activities and the students are answering by themselves even if it’s wrong or right but
these support classes are not taught by the teacher it towed by the TP student teacher from UAEU.

1. Were there examples of the assignments provided for the students?
- By the end of some classes the teacher reminds the students to do their homework’s on
LMS. I don’t know what kind of assessment she gave them.
2. Were students clear on what is expected from them? What formative assessment was done
in the lesson?
- Yes. To assess students teacher ask them Q and A questions only.
3. Were there opportunities for informal feedback that does not involve grading? (e.g. class
discussion, paired feedback, small group draft presentation). Were there opportunities for
students to provide feedback for the teacher and course throughout the semester?
- No.
4. Does the teacher ask questions and survey students for feedback?
- No.

- Yes.
Use of technology:
1. What technology or platform is being used?
- Teams.
2. What special features does it have?
- Teacher can share her screen, also she can mute everyone in case the students are
making noise. Students can open their cameras and microphone.
3. How did the teacher use the technology to teach?
- Present and share her screen.
4. How did the technology support student learning?
- Students are learning and having fun at the same time.
5. Were there any challenges experienced by the teacher or student?
- No.
