INTRODUCTION
The Modular Training Program is task based. You can complete most of this program through your own
motivation. Our company provides you with the training and equipment to do your job safely and with high
quality. The program focuses on information and jobs that you are routinely expected to know and perform as
you progress in your career. Ask for help from your supervisors and colleagues if you don’t understand
something.
OBJECTIVES
The main objective of this module is to introduce and orient you to the Company. Upon completion of this
module, you should be familiar with the:
2) major rig types, general rig components, and the basic personnel structure of the rig.
3) meaning of “QHSE” and the tools used to support it such as STOP, mandatory meetings,
alarms and drills, basic safety equipment, health check-ups and environmental control measures.
TRAINING MATERIAL
This Introductory Module booklet includes; (1) the Task List which is a list of things you must do,
(2) the Tool List which indicates the reference DVD and books to be used, (3) a section for personal notes,
and (4) a workbook of Employee Induction Questions.
TRAINING PROCEDURE
The expected time period for completing the Introductory Module is 6 hours. The Task List topics shall be
presented to you by a member of line management. The Task List will be signed off by the supervisor after you
demonstrate your understanding. The preparatory DVD and printed matter is provided to support the
presentation. You should take notes and ask questions as required. An Induction Test will be given to you by
line management. They will determine if you have a sufficient understanding of the fundamental information.
Thanks for your interest and participation in the IPM Modular Training Program.

Introductory Module
The Introductory Module is an aid to the Safety Induction Briefing. It covers basics of the induction process. It is not
meant to replace the entire process. Your induction process might be more detailed and specific to local requirements.
The Introductory Module is unique to the Modular Training Program for two reasons; 1) it should be administered by
line management before arrival at the rig, 2) a certificate will not be issued upon completion.
Objectives
The main objective of this module is to introduce and orient the new employee to the Company. Upon completion of
this module, the employee should be familiar with the:
2) major rig types, general rig components, and the basic personnel structure of the rig.
3) meaning of “QHSE” and the tools used to support it such as STOP, mandatory meetings, alarms and drills, basic
safety equipment, health check-ups and environmental control measures.
Training Procedure
The expected time period for completing the Introductory Module is 6 hours. The Task List topics will be presented by
line management preferably in the district before the employee ever travels to the rig site. The Tool List consists of
preliminary level movies that support the presentation. As per QHSE policy, the QHSE handbook is given to the new
employee The QHSE handbook is for the participant to keep and reference.
Note that the Internet may also be used to supplement the slides by providing the up-to-date information. Time
sensitive information concerning Schlumberger services and products may be found at the following WWW address:
http:/www.slb.com/
An Employee Induction Test is provided in the module for convenience. The test is directly from the
QHSE manual and serves only as a guideline. Line management may choose to administer another test. Obtaining a
score of less than 70% indicates insufficient understanding of the fundamental principles.
When the Task List requirements are fulfilled, it is signed and filed. The Completion Notification Form shall be
processed in order to record the completion of this Module. A certificate is not issued.
