Observe that Single printing is available in all five modes of operation, and Axle
printing is available only in Mode1 and Mode2.
3.1 Mode1
In this mode it is used only one weighing indicator (WI1) for printing.
In this mode two weighing indicators (WI1, WI2) are used for printing. The SUM of
the two weighing results is printed on the ticket, and not the individual weighing
values. This is also the single difference between the Mode1/Mode2.
3.3 Mode3
In this mode two weighing indicators (WI1, WI2) are used for printing. Only Single
Print Mode is available, which will print both weighing results from weighing
indicators and the SUM of them.

In this mode four weighing indicators (WI1, WI2, WI3, WI4) are used for printing.
Only Single Print Mode is available, which will print both weighing results from
weighing indicators and the SUM of them, organized as two sub-totals (axles) for the
WI1, WI2 and WI3, WI4, and a total from all four weighing results.

Only Single Print Mode is available, which will print both weighing results from
weighing indicators and the SUM of them, organized as two sub-totals (diagonals) for
the WI1, WI4 and WI2, WI3, and a total from all four weighing results.

The printed ticket can have up to six lines of programmable text printed just above
the “NO” field. Each line consists of 21 characters. Each line can be programmed
through the serial communication. See “5. SERIAL COMMUNICATION PROTOCOL”
chapter for a detailed description.
Below 10.7V, an audible warning signal will beep once per minute, and the character
“L” will show in the main screen:

The rest of the communication parameters and the serial protocol, are fixed:
N : no parity
8 : 8 bits of data
1 : 1 stop bit
5. SERIAL COMMUNICATION PROTOCOL
The serial communication protocol is a simple text based protocol. It has the
following goals:
1. To retrieve the stored records from NV memory, the WPD presents a menu
system based on two simple actions:
- the records can be read/uploaded one of a time, without deleting them, by
the ‘U’ command. So, the records can be read many times.
- All the records can be erased/deleted in a single step by the ‘E’ command.
NOTE: The NV memory capacity is 2047 records. If the memory become full, the
new records will be overwritten over the first records. In this mode, the last 2047
records are always available.
2. To retrieve the real time weighing results from indicators, the ‘G’ command is
used. This data can be useful in real-time monitoring applications.
3. To update the text strings of the ticket header, the ‘T’ (Text) command is
used. WPD presents a small menu system in which the operator can select
the line to be modified (by number) and then the new line can be entered.
WPD
RS232
RS485 WPD
PLC
In the case of the PC RS232 connection, a simple serial communication console (such
as the Windows Hyperterminal) cab be used to view/manage the system data.
The protocol consists of a simple request/response type. The request is always a
single character sent by PC. The WPD response consists of a series of text lines
(always ending in CR,LF), which shows the data requested by command.
At power-up, the WPD will try to communicate with all four possible indicators to see
the configuration. The indicators should have the addresses: 1,2,3 and 4.
VALCON: v1.4
................
If there is only one indicator seen and it has address 1, then the WPD enters the
Mode1 (single indicator system):
VALCON: v1.4
SINGLE INDICATOR
If there are two indicators with addresses 1 and 2, the WPD enters Mode2 (dual
indicator system):
VALCON: v1.4
DUAL INDICATOR
If there are all four indicators with addresses 1,2,3 and 4, the WPD enters Mode4
(quad indicator system):
VALCON: v1.4
QUAD INDICATOR
If none of these configurations have been found, the WPD will display the ERRORS
screen, in which it displays the addresses of the indicators missing:
