LESSON 1: LITERATURE AND ITS IMPORTANCE

1. What is literature?
 Literature is a human creative skill and imagination in a written piece of work. It is not
just any written output thus; it must be engaging to the readers. Furthermore, an author
must dedicate his/her mind and soul to come up with an enthralling literary piece.

2. Why is literature considered an art form?

 Through literature, an author expresses his/her own feelings by writing poems, essays,
novels, and such. It can be anything you want it to be but it needs to be written
thoughtfully and artistically to have attachment with the readers. To sum it up, if a
painter uses paint thus, a writer uses words.

3. What do you get out of reading literature?

 Literature has a unique element of entertaining its readers. It is a medium for authors to
relay their feelings or sometimes their personal experience to others. Also, it is an
effective tool for students to widen their vocabulary and critical thinking skills.

4. Reflection: Now, based on the previous presentation, give your personal definition of
literature.
 Literature can be defined as the imparting of thoughts, ideas, and feelings that is
physically written in words. It helps us to understand the life of various people from all
over the world and acquaints us to outlook different masterpieces of literature.
Moreover, it refers to the author’s creative imagination to fascinate the readers.

5. What generalizations can you make out of this lesson?

 Not all written works can be called a literature, hence, it must be written with passion
and dedication. To encapsulate, literature opens our eyes for us to see more than just the
front door shows. And because of this, we begin to learn, formulate some questions, and
construct our instincts to exercise our mind.
