I. Topics: Characteristics of Myth


II. Time Frame: 1 hour
III. Content Standard:
The learner demonstrates understanding of how world literature and other text
types serve as a vehicles of expressing and resolving conflicts among individuals or
groups; also how to use strategies in critical reading, listening, and viewing, and
affirmation and negation markers to deliver impromptu and extemporaneous
speeches.

IV. Performance Standard


The learner proficiently delivers an argumentative speech emphasizing how to
resolve conflicts among individuals or groups.

V. Learning Competencies
The learner will be able to:
 identify the characteristics of a myth
 assess the effectiveness of the ideas presented in the material viewed taking into
account its purpose;
 explain how the elements specific to a selection build it’s theme; and
 observe correct grammar in making definitions

Learning Targets:

Essential Questions:
 What is a myth?
 What are the characteristics of a myth?

Essential Understanding
 Myth is a traditional sacred story which usually narrates the activities of gods and
heroes, and that can explained a natural phenomenon or cultural practice.
 The five characteristics of a myth are settings, characters, plot, theme and
metaphor.

VI. Procedure
i. Explore:
 T he students will look under their chairs and check for a picture. The students
who could find the pictures will be giving their description about the picture and
share to the class.
 After sharing their ideas, the teacher will read a greek myth which is entitled
“Orpheus and Eurydice”
 Questions based on the story will be asked to the students.

ii. Firm-Up:
 The teacher will open the lesson. The teacher will let the students to identify the
characteristics of a myth by arranging the jumbled letters to form a word.

iii. Deepen:
 The teacher will let the students to share their own ideas about the topic.

iv. Transfer:
The students will be given another greek myth and let them identify what part of
the story belongs to the characteristics of a myth.

Values Integration
 Value the importance of characteristics of myth
 Trust is essential in dealing with love, not just love for a partner but in any forms
of love.

V. Assignment
Transfer will serve as their assignment
