2021 PRiNCESS MAHA CHAKRI AWARD NOMINATION

1. In reference to the Unnumbered Memorandum from the Oflice of the Director


of the Department of Education-Internationa.l Cooperation OIfice, Dir. Margarita
Consolation C. Ballesteros, this oflice announces the call for nomination for the
2021 Princess Maha Chakri Award.

2. Each Schools Division is directed to select and recommend one (1) nominee
using the criteria set by the awards:
a. outstanding achievement which generate benefits to education and
human development;
b, active in teaching or administration at the primary or secondary levels;
c. has inspired fellow teachers witJ: their dedication to students in the
countr5r.

3 Below are the documentary requirements:


a. Endorsement signed by the SDS;
b. Updated Personal Data Sheet (CSC Form 212);
c. A 1500-word essay explaining why he/she should receive the award;
and
d. Matrix of awards and achievements relevant to the PMCA, accompalied
by supporting documents (certifrcates of training need not be
submitted). A11 acronyms need to be spelled out. Attached is the format
of the matrix.

4. Nominees sha-ll submit hard and soft copies of the documentary requirements
on or before November 2(),2O2O. The hard copy, printed in in A4-sized paper, shall
be submitted in 1 long folder to tl:is office through the Humal Resource Development
Division (HRDD) c/o Ms. Marl1,ne M. Villarea-l, EPS and Rewards and Recognition
Foca-l Person. While the soft copy, scanned in one pdf frle, shall be sent through email
at [email protected] with the subject SDO _: Prlnccrr Maha Chakrt Asards
202L.

5. The Regional PRAISE Committee shal1 conduct the regional screening on


November 23-25, 2O2O and recommend only one (1) for nomination to the
International Cooperation Offrce.

SUBJECT : 2O2l Princess Maha Chakri Award Nomination

This is with reference to the letter from the Royal Thai Embassy on the
request of the 4th Princess Maha Chakri Award.

The PMCA was established on the occasion of the 60th birthday anniversar5r
of Her Royal Highness (HRH) Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand
in 2O15. It aims to:

a. honor HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn for her


outstanding achievements in the field of education and in the
development of the quality of life, especially for the
disadvantaged;
b. honor highly dedicated teachers whose accomplishments
make significant contributions to education and human
development and who deserve international recognition;
c. support and promote development of the teaching profession,
as well as educalional enhancement; and
d. stren65then international relations in the field of education.

It is mandatory for each region to send at least one (1) nominee to the
Deparlment of Education International Cooperation Office. Potential
candidates are still those who are still active in teaching or administration at
the primary and secondarlr education levels (pre-tertiary), and who have
inspired fellow teachers with their dedication to students in the country.

The general criteria require that nominees should

. come from SEAMEO member countries,


. be active in teaching or in education administration,

. have generated developmental changes in students and
inspired fellow teachers, and
. have outstanding achievements that generated benefits to
education and human development.

The specific criteria and selection process are conducted by the Ministry of
Education of each country. The Ministry of Education will be responsible for
selecting awardees in accordance with the criteria for the award nomination.
The Princess Maha Chalri Awards Philippine Seiection Committee are
composed of:

. Undersecretary who will serve as the Deputy Minister;


. Head, Bureau of Human Resources and Organization Development;
. Head, International Cooperation Office; and
. Head, National Educators Academy of the Philippines

The regions will do their respective selection of nominees using the criteria
set by the awards:

1 . Outstanding achievement which generate benefits to education and


human development
2. Active in teaching or administration at the primary or seconda4r levels
3. Has inspired fellow teachers with their dedication to students in the
country

One teacher from each Southeast Asian country will be selected as


awardees.

Interested applicants are directed to submit hard and soft copies of the
following requirements to their respective Department of Education (DepEd)
regional offices (ROs) :

a. Updated Personal Data Sheet (CS Form 212);


b. A 1500-word essay explaining why he/she should receive the
award; and
c. Matrix of awards and achievements (See attached matrix) relevant to
the PMCA, accompanied by supporting documents (certificates of
training need not be submitted). A11 acronyms need to be spelled out.

In this regard, we would like to request your good of{ice to screen the
submission and choose only one (1) nominee per region to the International
Cooperation Office pending the release of the memorandum order from the
Office of the Secretary on or before December 7, 2O2O.
