PROCEDURES
0:00 Set (mental focus):
Echo ya on Ab 5 times, each ya getting quieter
Repeat two more time
0:01 Vocal Technique:
Sirens (down, up, down) twice, yum (x5) on descending major scale (sol-do) four times,
each moving up one half-step
0:02 Choral Technique:
Whole class sing do on Ab, have two upper parts move up to sol, have altos move down
to mi, decrescendo
Repeat one more time
0:03 Music Literacy:
Sing: Major scale skip step ladder on Ab
Echo: Curwen hand signs, do-re-mi, mi-re-do, do-la-fa, fa-sol, sol-la-do
Sing What You See: use Curwen hand signs, same patterns as above
Overhead: Perform tonal exercise on solfege
Ask about what was special with the first couple exercises
“Got quieter”, talk about decrescendo and draw on board, relate to mp and p
