BUSINESS STATISTICS
SYLLABUS
INTRODUCTION TO BUSINESS STATISTICS
This module provides a gentle introduction to Descriptive Statistics, Probability, Ran-
dom Variables and Normal Distribution. We then review Sampling and sampling
distributions followed by confidence intervals and Hypothesis Testing.
We compare two or more populations using ANOVA. Linear Regression modeling,

forecasting and nonparametric methods We wrap up the module with Quality con-
trol and Improvement methods followed by a gentle introduction to Bayesian Statis-
tics
DATA ANALYSIS AND BUSINESS MODELING (ADVANCED EXCEL)

ADVANCED EXCEL We cover Wayne Winston’s Data Analysis and Business Modeling methods. This
module teaches the basic approaches for data structuring, transformation and anal-
ysis. It is largely hands-on with exercises designed to reinforce analytical concepts
using Excel.
A plethora of business problems will be solved . Students will get a good overview of
basic financial modeling, date-time handling, forecasting, optimization, Pricing, Sim-
ulation, Array Handling etc.,
INTRODUCTION TO R PROGRAMMING
A basic Introduction to the programming concepts in R is provided. This starts with a

gentle introduction to data objects, data handling, summary, tabulation and moves
R PROGRAMMING on to Distributions and Hypothesis Testing.
Significant emphasis is laid on data visualization and Graphical Analysis. Packages

such as base graphics, ggplot2 are introduced.
The module wraps up with a basic introduction to regression models and functional
programming.
Standard textbooks will be provided for the above three modules

for all the participants
