5 Functions
On some vehicles, following driving, the boot can only be opened after you have
opened the driver’s door.
Locking of the doors when the vehicle is moving, if this function is provided on the
vehicle, can be activated by a configuration parameter.
In the diagnostic tool menu : « BSI », « PROGRAMMING », « CONFIGURATION »,
« LOCKING – DOORS AND TAILGATE – IMMOBILISER – ALARM », parameter :
« LOCKING WHILE DRIVING OPTION ».
If the locks are activated several times in succession, the thermic protection of the
locks is activated and the locks cannot be operated for a certain time.
The activation of this protection can be checked in the diagnostic tool menu : « BSI »,
« PARAMETER MEASURES », « LOCKING » parameter « THERMIC LOCK
PROTECTION ACTIVE ».

5.4.1 Configuration
WARNING : Of the above parameters, the diagnostic tool only displays those that
are actually present in the BSI software.
So, depending on the software version of the BSI, only some of the parameters
featured above will be displayed by the diagnostic tool.

6 [G05][S00] Preliminary checks on the BSI
Stage 1
Identification of a BSI in back-up mode:
- First case: When the ignition is switched on and the lighting stalk is in position
0, the vehicle’s sidelamps (front or rear or both) come on.
- Second case: With the engine running, the dipped beam headlamps come on,
the windscreen wiper operates in intermittent wipe or in slow speed.
Stage 2
Does the BSI show symptoms of being in back-up No
mode?
Stage 3
Yes
End
procedure
Stage 4
Check the fuses, the supplies of the BSI – repair if
necessary
Stage 5
Using a diagnostic tool,
start communication with the BSI, select the menu
« IDENTIFICATION »
Stage 5.1
End procedure
Check the link between the diagnostic

tool and the diagnostic socket, the
condition of the various connections
and the working of the communication
interface of the diagnostic tool.
If everything is in good condition,
replacement of the BSI is authorised.

Yes
Stage 15.2
Direct your searches to the link between the
No switch module under the steering wheel (or
the FCC steering wheel) and the Engine
Relay Unit, as well as to the Engine Relay
Unit itself.
Stage 17.2
Replacement of the BSI WARNING : Configure the parameter « Type
is authorised of daytime-running lamps » in the BSI as it
was originally.

7 [G05][S01] Locking / unlocking of the vehicle, using either the remote
control or the key in the lo ck, not functioning.
STAGE 1
Check the battery voltage level.
Check that the ignition+ is off when you switch off the ignition.
Test the unlocking with the remote control, from a position about 1 metre behind
the vehicle on the driver’s side : if at least one lock is functioning on the vehicle:
The BSI is not at fault, replacement prohibited.
BSI requirements
In the diagnostic tool menu : « BSI », « programming », « configuration »,
« LOCKING – DOORS AND TAILGATE – IMMOBILISER – ALARM » :
Check the status of the following configuration parameters (if these are present)
« high frequency reception option »
« central closing using the high frequency remote control »
« type of locking »
« type of high frequenc y remote control transmitter »
STAGE 2
Checking the battery of the high frequency remote
control
(3 possible checking methods) :
- Use the testing tool for the high frequency remote
control
- In the diagnostic tool menu : « BSI », « parameter
measures », « high frequency remote control »,
check the status of the parameter « high frequency remote
control battery spent ».
- Remove the battery from the remote control, wait 10
seconds and measure the voltage of the battery.

8 [G05][S02] : Folding of rear view mirrors not functioning
WARNING : The BSI is not the cause, replacement prohibited (except if the BSI is
the origin of a problem on the multiplexed networks), as there is no direct output to
the rear view mirrors).
WARNING : Of the above parameters, the diagnostic tool only displays those that
are actually present in the BSI software.
So, depending on the software version of the BSI, only some of the parameters
featured above will be displayed by the diagnostic tool.
Check and deal with the faults present at the door modules.
Check the operation of the rear view mirrors.
Absence of lighting of hazard warning lamps when the remote control is operated.
In the diagnostic tool menu : « BSI », « PROGRAMMING », « CONFIGURATION »
« LIGHTING – SIGNALLING – VISIBILITY – REAR VIEW MIRRORS » : Check the
configuration of the parameter : « location of vehicle by flashing ».
For other problems, refer to procedure : G11 « Direction indicators, hazard warning
lamps ».

frequency remote controls
If the initialisation and synchronisation of the remote controls goes well but the
remote controls do not work, change the key as well as the remote control.
This procedure can be used at any time, without the need for a diagnostic tool.
