RANKINE CYCLE
CONDENSER – After leaving the turbine, the steam enters to the condenser and change its state from
steam to liquid by cooling.
PUMP – Pressurized and pumps the water back to the boiler. And the cycle continues.
The Rankine cycle is a model used to predict the performance of steam turbine systems. It was also used
to study the performance of reciprocating steam engines. The Rankine cycle is an idealized
thermodynamic cycle of a heat engine that converts heat into mechanical work while undergoing phase
change. While on the other hand, refrigeration cycles are the conceptual and mathematical models for
heat pump, air conditioning and refrigeration systems. A heat pump is a mechanical system that allows
for the transmission of heat from one location at a lower temperature to another location at a higher
temperature.
