Dear Administrator:

It is my pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Kristie Najdek, who is applying for a teaching
position in your school district. I have known Kristie as an undergraduate student in the Teacher Education
Program at Wilkes University, where I have had the honor of teaching her in several undergraduate
courses: Teaching Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Students, Language Arts in Early Childhood and
Elementary Education, The Arts in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Applied Reading
Strategies, and Children’s Literature. She earned a 4.0 in each of the courses. Kristie’s successful
professional student teaching semester was at the Primary Center in the Tunkhannock Area School District
in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania, and at the Secondary Center in the Wyoming Area School District in
Exeter, Pennsylvania.

Kristie is a Dean’s List student who will graduate with a major in Elementary and Early Childhood
Education, a minor in Reading, and a concentration in Special Education. She is a member of the Wilkes
University Chapter of the Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society,
and the Colonel Elite. Kristie was also the captain of the Wilkes University Women’s Volleyball team. She
is a true scholar-athlete with exceptional leadership skills. Kristie also maintains excellent oral and written
communication skills, and she utilizes these skills not only in professional presentations, but also to
implement a variety of strategies to motivate and actively engage her students in the classroom. She is
completely dedicated to her students and the teaching-learning process as reflected in her personal
philosophy of education.

As an elementary and early childhood teacher, Kristie has demonstrated that she is a competent and diligent
professional who shows passion for the teaching-learning process. Her positive attitude is commendable,
and her teaching skills are recognized as outstanding by the faculty in the Teacher Education Program at
Wilkes University. Kristie was selected as a teacher for the Wilkes University Adventures in Reading
program, an after school program on campus under my direction, for children entering kindergarten
through sixth grade, for which she designed and taught unique thematic lessons in reading and language
arts for students in first and second grade. Her creativity and innovation were superb, her students were
highly motivated, and the parents were extremely pleased with her teaching and interaction with the
children.

Kristie Najdek is clearly an outstanding teacher who cares about the growth and success of her students,
and I am continually impressed by her professional development as a teacher and role model. I highly
recommend her for a teaching position in Elementary and Early Childhood Education (PK-4) or Special
Education (K-8) within your school district. Should you have any questions or require clarification, please
contact me in the Education Department of Wilkes University.

Sincerely,

Diane M. Polachek
