Q1: What is the profile or side view? Explain briefly.

Answer: It is a view of a person or object presenting a side instead of a front toward the
observer or camera.

The side view of an object shows the height and depth dimensions. In multiview
drawings, the right side is the standard view side. The right side view is projected onto the right
profile plane of projection, which is a plan that is parallel to the right side of the object. (Figure
1)

Q2: What function of these commands? Explain Briefly.

Answer:

Revolve Boss/Base

A feature that creates a base or boss, a revolved cut, or revolved surface by revolving one
or more sketched profiles around a centerline. Following is the procedure to select this
command,

1. Click one of the following revolve tools:

 Revolved Boss/Base   (Features toolbar) or Insert > Boss/Base > Revolve.

 Revolved Cut   (Features toolbar) or Insert > Cut > Revolve.

 Revolved Surface   (Surfaces toolbar) or Insert > Surface > Revolve.

2. In the Property Manager, set the options.

3. Click

Shell

A feature that hollows out a part, leaving open the selected faces and thin walls on the
remaining faces. A hollow part is created when no faces are selected to be open.

The shell tool hollows out a part, leaves open the faces you select, and creates thin-walled
features on the remaining faces.

If you do not select any face on the model, you can shell a solid part, creating a closed,
hollow model. You can also shell a model using multiple thicknesses. Following is the procedure
to select this command,

1. Click on any plan which you want to shell.

2. Click Shell
3. On shell Parameter, set D1 to any thickness,

4. Click

Smart Dimensions

It is a measurement of length, diameter, angle etc. in one direction. You dimension 2D or

3D sketch entities with the Smart Dimension tool. You can drag or delete a dimension while
the Smart Dimension tool is active.

Dimension types are determined by the sketch entities you select. For some types of
dimensions (point-to-point, angular, circular), the location where you place the dimension also
affects the type of dimension that is added.
1. Click Smart Dimension   on the Dimensions/Relations toolbar, or
click Tools > Dimensions > Smart. The default dimension type is Parallel.

Optionally, you can choose a different dimension type from the shortcut menu. Right-click
the sketch, and select More Dimensions. Choose from Horizontal, Vertical, Ordinate,
Horizontal Ordinate, or Vertical Ordinate. If you are editing a drawing view, you have
additional choices of Baseline and Chamfer.

2. Select the items to dimension,

Line

A straight sketch entity with two endpoints. A line can be created by projecting an
external entity such as an edge, plane, axis, or sketch curve into the sketch.

1. Click Line   on the Sketch toolbar, or click Tools > Sketch Entities > Line.

The pointer changes to  .

2. In the Insert Line PropertyManager under Orientation, select one of the following:

 As sketched

 Horizontal

 Vertical

 Angle
Centerline

1. Click Centerline   (Sketch toolbar) or click Tools > Sketch Entities > Centerline.

2. Click to start the centerline.
3. Drag, or move the pointer and click, to set the end of the centerline.
