In my media enterprise research, I will use my initiative by looking at
electronic products and looking at how businesses use commercials and
advertisements to display their products to the audience to entice them,
making them loyal customers. In addition, I will also look at the number of sites
that sell successful electrical devices.

I have started to work independently by thinking about the i have chose four
ideas i would like to do:

Idea one: Creating shoe reviews on a Youtube channel. I can review a pair
of shoes explaining what is good about them, what is bad about them, and if
they are worth the price to purchase. I will then advertise this service on
various social media platforms such as Instagram.

Idea two: Creating an online clothing brand. This idea will be presented on a
website solely dedicated to the clothing brand, where customers will be able
to purchase our product from there at a very affordable and reasonable
price.

Idea three: Uploading a podcast dedicated to review video games. With this
idea, I will honestly review various different games whilst discussing with the
community on a Youtube channel. Also review the system and give the
games that I have reviewed a star rating, giving the audience a conscious of
either purchasing the game or not.

Idea four: Creating a YouTube channel analysing football players
performance in a game. It is a service similar to podcasts and it is provided to
a community of football lovers and football fanatics. There will be me as the
‘host’ and two other guests on my sports podcast. We will be discussing many
things within the football world. This idea is very accessible for anybody who
wants to watch it. I will advertise this service on various social media platforms
such as Instagram and Snapchat.

4/06/2020
I have applied self-motivation to complete the enterprise research on the
product that I want to review, an idea that came to mind was the thought of
creating a dedicated YouTube channel to analyse football players
performance in a game. I am analysing and presenting it on a YouTube
platform as it is the biggest video-sharing social media platform in the world.
However, going ahead with this option leaves me with many things I have to
put into consideration.

After several hours of thinking and evaluating independently, I have decided
to choose idea four mainly because of my exuberant passion that I have for
football and also backing it up with my broad experience of football.

Format and structure of Kickcast!

● At the beginning of the Kickcast video podcast there will be a well
presented introduction and at the end of the video podcast i will then
present the outro to conclude what has been covered in that specific
episode podcast similar to impaulsive.
● For the match analysis aspect of my video podcast will be adding
match footage in the intervals my podcast.
● It involves (me) as a host and also a co-host which will be a peer in my
class who has already agreed on this role. There will also be a guest
who comes on and discusses with us the contents.
● This video podcast will be recorded with two DSLR cameras placed in
different locations, providing different perspectives whilst we discuss
the contents of kickcast!
● We would be speaking into a microphone each. Each of us so they
would need to be three microphones. It allows all of us to
communicate effectively.
● The duration of each video podcast episode will vary due to the
subject of the match analysis around 10-25 minutes including having
the intro and outro within.
● The outro will be played at the end of the video podcast episode.

My mindmup for my media enterprise idea
I have created a detailed mindmup to help me better analyze my reasoning
as well as generate my ideas when I am choosing a service.

14/08/2020

I worked well with others by kindly asking them to help share my
questionnaire link to everyone in school and on snapchat as it is a
massive social media platform that middle age people use the most
often.

My research portfolio includes:

The aim and context of the research:
The aims/objective of this market research is to allow me to discover
the target market. In this instance, it is young football fanatics aged
14-21. This research also helps me collect valuable opinions and
feedback from the consumers about their main interests in my service.
It then further enables me to make better decisions about my service
due to all the primary and secondary research that I have conducted.

The research plans:

Primary Research  Secondary research

Questionnaire - to collect  Consumer research - to help me

valuable feedback via survey  understand what the respondents
like/dislike most about my service
idea

Interviews - get respondents  Market research - to collect

insight and opinions about my  valuable opinions and feedback
service idea

After receiving the teacher’s feedback, I created a new and improved
questionnaire that I sent out to many people to respond to it via
email and hyperlinks on snapchat.
The link to the questionnaire:

Primary research/market research 1

This was intended to get more people to respond so i can gain better
valuable data from this primary research technique.

My new and improved questionnaire had tons of open questions which
were intended for the respondents to give their insightful opinions
about my service idea.

After 24 hours of sharing the questionnaire around, I gained 30
responses which was better than the initial 12 I received beforehand.

Using my initiative, I reviewed all of the data I collected from 1-15
questions. These were the results to my new and improved
questionnaire:

1. This was the first question I asked on my new questionnaire: ‘what is
your age?’ I asked this to ensure I identified all the age ranges of
the respondents that were interested in my service. The majority of
the respondents' age range were 12-17 was a total of 24 counts.
(18-24 and under 12 years old) making the second largest age
range.

2. This is the second question i asked in my questionnaire: ‘What is
your gender?’I included four answer choices for this question and
they were male, female, non-binary and prefer not to say. This
was intended to add diversity to the results and portrays the
opinions of more of the target audience rather than The one part
that consists of just either male and female. The pie chart above
clearly indicates that the majority of respondents are male at 20
counts and the females respondents with only 9 counts.
Furthermore, non-binary has only one single count and prefer not
to say gender answer choice is not selected by the respondents

3. The next I asked in my questionnaire: ‘what social media platform
do you use regularly?’ This question was solely to identify what
social media platform the respondents use the most. This valuable
information is very beneficial as it allows me to present my service
idea on that specific social media platform that my target
audience uses the most. From this bar chart, you can clearly see
that 1 respondents use Facebook, 12 respondents use Instagram,
8 respondents use Snapchat and YouTube 6 respondents use it
and finally 2 respondents use Twitter regularly compared to all the
other social media platforms. No respondents chose the’ other
option’ on this question

4. This adds on to the following question I asked in my questionnaire:
‘How often do you post on social media?’ The pie chart clearly
indicates that 10 respondents post on social media daily and 6
post on social media weekly. Lastly, 13 respondents post on social
media monthly. The purpose of this question I asked was really to
identify the engagement of the respondents on social media.

5. My 5th question I asked on my questionnaire: ‘Do you play any
kind of sports?’ 22 respondents answered yes and 8 answered no.
This is beneficial as it displays that the majority of the respondents
are active and some might be interested in my service idea.

6. My 6th question I asked on my questionnaire:‘How interested are
you in football?’ This was the main question I was leading up to
because it really shows if people approve of my service idea. The
majority of respondents have said they are interested in football
and 5 respondents have said they feel neutral about football.
Finally, 6 respondents have said they are extremely not interested
in football.

7. This question was a follow up to the previous question where I
asked on my questionnaire: ‘If so, who is your favourite football
player?’ This was just an interesting open question as I was curious
to see who everyone's favourite footballer players are. These were
the results i collected from the 20 respondents:

8. My 8th question I asked on my questionnaire was:‘Do you
listen/watch any type of podcasts?’ As you can identify from the
pie chart above it clearly displays that 22 respondents answered
yes, 7 answered no and the final respondent answered ‘other
option’.

9. My next question I asked on my questionnaire: ‘Which of the
following genres of podcasts do you watch/listen to?’ This was a
multiple choice question and the majority of the respondents
answered that they are interested in a sports podcast as
presented on the beautiful bar chart above. 4 respondents
selected comedy and 5 also selected the other option. Finally,
none of the respondents selected the new option.

10. The tenth question I asked on my questionnaire was: ‘Would
you watch/listen to a football podcast?’ The majority of the
respondents answered yes which was 9 counts, 6 respondents
answered no and 5 respondents said maybe. This piece of data is
presented above.

11. This question was a follow up to the previous question where I
asked on my questionnaire: ‘If so, what kind of content would you
like to see on a podcast?’ These were the 14 responses I received.
12. My next question I asked on my questionnaire: ‘How long
would you watch/listen to a podcast?’the results were mixed as 4
respondents answered 0-15 minutes, 5 respondents answered
16-30 minutes, the other options were similar.

These were the last pieces of results I collected from my questionnaire
as part of my primary research. They are all displayed in the wonderfully
presented pie chart and bar charts below.

Primary research/market research 2

For my second primary research, I used my initiative and decided to do
an interview with a couple peers and save it on a voice memo on my
smart phone in the studio. In order to achieve this, I had to ensure the
peers I was going to do it with, so I then selected two trustworthy peers
which agreed to be interviewed for my service idea. I worked
independently as I prepared a couple insightful questions on google
docs so i could ask the interviewees.

New interview script questions:

“Hi, my name is David Chime and it is a great pleasure to be with
wojciech lewczuk. I am going to be interviewing him as part of my
primary research.”

“Hi, my name is David Chime and it is a great pleasure to be with Yama
Bahadur. I am going to be interviewing him as part of my primary
research.”

1. What is your age and gender if you don't mind me asking?
2. What demographic would you say you fit into best?
3. What device do you use the most?
4. What social media platforms do you use most frequently?
5. Do you have any hobbies or interests?
6. Are you interested in sports, such as football?
7. Do you watch/listen to any genre of podcasts?
8. Would you be interested in a football podcast?
9. What is the ideal length you would listen to a podcast?
10. And lastly, what content would appeal to you in a football
podcast?

This concludes the interview, thank you so much for your time!

A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A

These were the two voice memos that I recorded on my phone from
the interview. I interviewed two peers about my service idea which was
beneficial as it helped me gain valuable primary research.

Some of the answers i received for the questions i asked were:

1. “My favourite football player is Messi, as I have watched him from
such a young age. I view him as my inspiration.”
2. “I watch a lot of podcast such as, joe Rogan and Impaulsive as
they are my main interests right now.”
3. “An ideal length for a podcast for me would be around 15-25
minutes”
4. “The content that i would like to see on a football podcast would
discuss footballers, general detail about scores and injury details
on specific players.”
5. “I am 17 years of age and i am a male.”
6. “Yes I am very interested in football as I even play for a Sunday
league team.”
7. “Yes, I watch a lot of podcasts. They vary from topic to topic. I am
interested mostly in educational and sports podcasts.

These answers are as I expected because I interviewed a person from
my target audience. My target audience is aged 14-21 who are
unemployed. This means that they have more free time around the
board which means they have many interests and hobbies.

My Secondary research

A podcast is defined as an audio programme that you can
watch/listen to whenever you like on Youtube, Spotify, BBC etc. It can
be accessed from many device platforms such as a smartphone,
tablet, TV or a console. Currently, on a smartphone is where the most
people watch/listen to podcasts. Furthemore, a podcast can have
many episodes on a general topic or theme. So, my topic/theme is a
football based podcast.

From this secondary research I have
found online, I can clearly identify
that 50% of all homes are podcast
fans due to the coronavirus
pandemic as people have to stay
at home. It has increased so that
means more people are likely to
listen/watch my podcast because
they are staying at home. Credits:
Podcast insights 2020

This is the website where most of
my secondary research will be
gathered from. As the
information and data on this
website is very reliable and
current.

From this graph I can clearly
identify that the rise in smartphone
use has increased by 157% since
2014. That is the main device I plan
that my target audience uses the
most as my Youtube channel can
be easily accessed on a
smartphone. This is a major
advantage as most young teens in
the UK own a smartphone which
means they can watch my
podcasts on my Youtube channel.
In addition, there are various other
devices that people can use to easily access my youtube channel as
well such as a tablet, computer or even on a console. Furthermore, it is
shown that Podcast listeners are much more active on every social
media channel 94% are active on at least one – vs 81% for the entire
population. This is beneficial because I am going to be presenting my
service idea on mainly Instagram and Youtube as these are two very
massive social media platforms.

From this example of secondary
research, I have gathered information
that the UK is the country that people
listen to in the past month at 18%. The
highest number of listeners goes to
South Korea mainly due to the
population ratio. This is a drawback
because it just indicates that i will be
getting less listeners/watchers due to
where i am situated. This secondary
research has helped me realise the
accuracy of how many people who
will tune into my podcast on my Youtube channel.

This pie chart represents the majority of men and women who
listen/watch podcasts 56% are men and 44% are women. From the bar
chart above we can conclude that as the years go by podcasting
becomes increasingly more popular. From between 2013 to 2019 we
see a 21% increase. This means currently the interest in podcasting
would be estimated to be around 36-40% this is because of the
coronavirus pandemic more people are staying at home which means
they can be potentially listening/watching podcasts. My podcast,
Kickcast! Will ensure there is no discrimination to gender which means
anyone no matter the gender can watch my podcasts. Furthermore, I
will ensure I add the involvement of major female football stars to make
sure I am mixing the gender field, so I am not only talking about male
football players. This is intended to add variation in the discussions on
my podcast.

This data clearly shows that podcast
listeners/watchers are: loyal, affluent
and educated. 80% listen/watch all or
most of the podcast episodes to an
average of 7 shows per week. The
objective of Kickcast! Video postcasts
are for education for football fanatics
whilst also entertaining for each and
every viewer. This is beneficial as I know if my viewers like my first, initial
podcasts they will stay loyal and keep listening and potentially tune in
for future episodes.

From this article, Podcast listeners/watchers spend an average of 6
hours and 39 minutes listening to podcasts every week. Which is really
beneficial as my podcasts are going to last around 10-25 minutes with
frequent uploads.

Restriction secondary research
The security around my video podcast idea would be minimal, as
it is for young aspiring teens there will be no restrictions from
getting on to my podcast. Like there will be no timing restrictions
so after 9PM my podcast episode still can be posted on my
youtube channel as i have identified that most young teens are
awake after 9PM. So, they can still watch it no matter whatever
time it is. Podcasts are the most versatile source of entertainment
or educational content as all you need is an electronic device
with an internet connection such as a tablet, smart phone, TV or a
console.

Evidence that young teens stay awake after 9PM:

https://www.nationwidechildrens.org/specialties/sleep-disorder-ce

There are two main ways I want my Kickcast! podcast to be similar to
the Impualsive by Logan Paul and the Joe Roagan experience
podcast. I would like to follow their format and approach to creating
my podcast.

I want my podcast to have a similar set up to logan pauls as there is a
host, co-host and to interviewees with a shotgun microphone in front of
the co-host and The Host. The positions they are all in is beneficial as
everyone involved can be seen in the four shot or three shot that may
occur. Logan Paul's podcast is very similar to The Joe Rogan Experience
as it involves tables and a shotgun microphone for each person
involved. That's the main way I want Kictcast to be formatted the same
ways as them.

Furthermore, with secondary research I have identified from the
internet is that Impaulsive and Joe Rogan’s podcasts vary from 1-3
hours. I believe that the length of my podcast should not be over 1 hour
as from my primary research the majority of respondents have said the
ideal length to watch a football podcast is around 15 minutes to half
an hour. Exceeding the ideal length would just lead to less people
watching which is a massive drawback to my podcast as I want as
many people as possible watching my Kickcast! podcast.

I have also identified through secondary research that in both podcasts
they are always wearing headphones. This is another feature in my
podcast that I would like as it has potential benefits. One benefit is that
it can improve the audio quality in the studio whilst recording the
discussions for the podcast. Another benefit is that recording also
supports microphone technique. For example, by hearing what is being
recorded as it's happening you have complete control over your sound
quality.
Examples of using headphones (secondary research):

The platforms that both of the video podcasts are presented most on are:
spotify, and Youtube (only platform i will be using). Those are both podcasts
presented on massive platforms and I don't think my new podcast will be
presented on those platforms because of the popularity in the industry. I will
be presenting mine on Youtube as it is free, simple and anyone can sign up.
Through conducting secondary research, I found this website that has many
facts and statistics on Youtube. In addition, I have identified that Youtube is
the largest video-streaming platform in the world. This is advantageous
because:

This means that more people are likely to watch/listen to my Kickcast!
Video podcast.

Secondary research of where the podcasts are presented:

Logan paul intro to his impalusive video podcast:

He always starts his video podcast with a five second highlight of
what is to come in the specific video podcast episode. Then it
progresses with the same short, catchy theme song (which he uses
in every impaulsive video) then boldly presents the title of the
podcast which is impaulsive.

I would want my Kickcast! Video podcast intro to be similar to
Logan Paul's Impaulsive. In addition, I will proceed with a 5-second
highlight of what is to come in my specific video podcast episode
then swiftly move on to a catchy theme song that displays the title
of my podcast which is Kickcast!

Logan paul thumbnail to his Impaulsive video podcast:

In his thumbnails, it just presents him and the other guest he is
going to be discussing a certain theme/topic with on his podcast
which is simple and effective with a blue youtube background.
whilst also including the title of his podcast which, it is impaulsive.
This technique is the same with every one of his video podcasts
just with different guests each episode he uploads on his Youtube
channel.

Once again with my video podcast, it will be very similar to
Impaulsive as I am going to ensure that me and my guest I am
going to be discussing a certain topic or theme will be included in
my thumbnail. I will proceed further by adding a dark blue
background whilst also presenting a bold title of my podcast
which is kickcast!

Logan paul outro to his impalusive video podcast:

At the end of every Impaulsive video podcast episode, he
congratulates everybody involved in the production of the
podcast. Logan paul then proceeds by also thanking the guests
for coming out and taking time out of their day to be a part of his
Impulsive video podcast. However he does not have an outro
Music like he does his intro music. Finally he encourages all his fans
that watch the podcast to go subscribe to the YouTube channel
so you can grow further.

My Kickcast! Podcast is going to be slightly different because I am
going to ensure that I have background music in each episode of
the podcast outro. Furthermore, I will similarly thank the guests for
coming out and helping me record my video podcast. whilst also
encouraging all my target audience to get more people to
promote my podcast by subscribing to my YouTube channel so I
can go further too.

There are more podcasts than ever before – over one million shows and 30
million episodes according to Apple Podcasts data. And the number of
podcasts is growing exponentially; Apple says there were more than 63,000
new shows released in March this year compared with just over 25,000
additions in September 2019.

Over 10 million people are listening to a podcast every week in the UK.

https://www.inpublishing.co.uk/articles/podcast-growth-continues-but-publishers-ne
ed-to-be-clear-why-they-are-podcasting-15678

The more people that watch podcasts means there is a more likely chance
of those who have an interest in football will watch my video podcasts. This
creates more engagement for my video podcast in other words, it will
increase the amount of views and likes I receive. It will reach a large variety
of my target audience if more people are watching the podcasts at home
due to coronavirus.

Format and structure of Kickcast!

● At the beginning of the Kickcast video podcast there will be
a well presented introduction and at the end of the video
podcast i will then present the outro to conclude what has
been covered in that specific episode podcast similar to
impaulsive.
● For the match analysis aspect of my video podcast will be
adding match footage in the intervals my podcast.
● It involves (me) as a host and also a co-host which will be a
peer in my class who has already agreed on this role. There
will also be a guest who comes on and discusses with us the
contents.
● This video podcast will be recorded with two DSLR cameras
placed in different locations, providing different perspectives
whilst we discuss the contents of kickcast!
● We would be speaking into a microphone each. Each of us
so they would need to be three microphones. It allows all of
us to communicate effectively.
● The duration of each video podcast episode will vary due to
the subject of the match analysis around 10-25 minutes
including having the intro and outro within.
● The outro will be played at the end of the video podcast
episode.

My Consumer research:

After several hours of thinking, I made a decision. The video podcast I
feel strongly about and that I want to be formatted like is Impaulsive. I
reject the joe rogan experience podcast as i feel like the camera angle
is constant all the time and there is no camera angle variation. In
addition, I applied my enterprise skills to ensure that I have contributed
to the generation and development of my service idea, Kickcast!

My target audience are football fanatics aged 14-21, this means they
are students and young adults. A need is an essential feature that the
target audience must have. Whereas, a desire is what the target
audience really wants. My target audience has made it clear to me in
primary research questionnaire that their ideal length that they will
watch a football podcast would be between 15 to half an hour. So, I
have used consumer research to identify that my video podcast is
estimated to be around 15-30 minutes. My video podcast would be
uploaded to my Youtube channel frequently on a weekly basis. Most of
the target audience are most active on Youtube which is beneficial for
my video podcast. I collected this information in my primary research
stage, where I asked my target audience what social media platform
they use most frequently and the majority responded with Youtube.

I have decided to make a Youtube channel that allows the
consumer to watch my video podcast. Instead of making it a
downloadable podcast on spotify/apple podcast. From my
secondary research I have conducted it will be easier for me to
do a video podcast.
