This standard practice provides guidelines for operations, maintenance, and inspection procedures for amusement rides and devices. It establishes responsibilities for owner/operators and procedures they must follow.

The purpose of this practice is to delineate information and establish procedures for the operation, maintenance, inspection, and training for amusement rides and devices.

The owner/operator is responsible for developing programs for operations, maintenance, inspections, and training according to the guidelines in the standard. This includes preparing operating documents and evacuation plans for each ride or device.

This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles

for the
Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
