Q1. The line 3x─4y+8 =0 meets y-axis at A. It given that C has the coordinate of
(2,1). The line that goes through C is perpendicular to the line 3x-4y+8=0 and
meets at B. find the area of ABC. Ans: 1 unit 2

Q2. Find the coordinates of the points of intersection of y=x 2-9 and y=x-3.
Ans: (3,0) ; (-2-5)

Q3. The coordinates of the points A, B and C are (3,-6), (-1,-2) and (5,8)
respectively. Find
(i) the coordinates of the midpoint of AB. Ans:(1,-4)
(ii) an equation of the straight line through the midpoint of AB and
perpendicular to x+3y=6 Ans: y=3x-7
(iii) an equation of straight line through line A and parallel to BC
Ans: 3y-5x+33=0

Q4. Find an equation for a circle with the coordinate A(3,2) and B(-1,6) as the
edges of the diameter. Ans:x 2+y2-2x-8y+9=0

Q5. Find an equation of the circle that contain the points P(2,3) and Q(-1,8) and
has the midpoint of the segment PQ as its centre.

Q6. Show that the graph for x2+y2+2(4y-3x)+9=0 forms a circle. Therefore find
the radius and the centre. Ans:(3,-4) ; r= 4
