Overview of the website

Willing Hearts is a secular, non-affiliated charity, Willing Hearts is wholly run

by volunteers, aside from a couple of staff initially employed by the charity. It operates a
charity that prepares, cooks and distributes about 5,000 daily meals to over 40 locations
island-wide, three hundred and sixty-five days a year, festivities and public holidays
included. Beneficiaries of the Willing Hearts Charity includes the elderly, the
disabled, low-income families, children from single-parent families or otherwise poverty-
stricken families, and migrant workers in Singapore.

Willing Hearts is registered as a society with the Ministry of Home Affairs since February
2005 and as a charity with the Ministry of Social and Family Development since
December 2008.

Also, Willing Hearts extends the subsequent services to its beneficiaries; care,
Traditional Chinese medicine treatments, Optical care, Legal aid, Tuition services for
needy primary going children, bereavement services.

The basis of the Willing Heart charity revolves around the need to feed the
underprivileged people and provides health care services also.
Analysis of Website Aims and Objectives:

Feeding over 5000 people every day of three hundred and sixty-five days is beyond
incredible. That brings the Willing Hearts charity to providing 1,825,000 meals during a
year. The thought of what percentage of people enjoy the charity is extremely
overwhelming, and therefore the people who put themselves at the forefront of this
charity are beautiful.

The aim of the charity is to supply daily meals and support services to the
underprivileged, the needy and other marginalized members in Singapore and to help
and guide them towards rehabilitating and reinstating themselves as useful members of
the society.

The vision of the Willing Heart charity in the long-run is to enhance the lives of the
underprivileged and marginalized by providing them with their "daily bread" and to assist
them in becoming useful members of society.

In today's world, where economies aren't as stable as they used to be, many people are
losing their "daily bread," and with charities just like the Willing Heart, hope isn't lost.
Analysis of Website Message/ Call to Action:

The Willing Hearts charity embraces the use of an acronym as their core values and call
to action.

"R. E. S. P. E. C. T."

At the heart of their core values, they look towards respecting each other regardless of
who and status – donors, partners, supporters, volunteers and beneficiaries alike.

The acronym depicts a meaning of;

Respect- giving due regard for the feeling of others.

Empathy- being understanding and sharing the feelings of another.

Sincerity- being genuine.

Patience- being tolerant.

Ethical- being moral, upright, honest, righteous, virtuous, honorable.

Compassionate- being kind.

Teamwork- being cooperative when working together in a group.

The call to action R. E. S. P. E. C. T clearly states their values and what they believe in
and are all ultimately connected to one another. The call to action all refers to being
human and treating every other person as human.

Respect what everybody might be feeling because you are unaware of what they have
been through if you are unable to understand how they feel because you have not gone
through a similar situation, try to share their feelings, make them feel better. Do not
present insincerity to people, don't be overbearing, follow all codes of ethics, be a kind
person and importantly, Learn to work with people without being uncooperative.

This is a clear and concise call to action, easily decipherable, and the rules are not
strict, just general ethical human requirements.

Analysis of Stakeholders, Public and audiences:

The executive committee members of the Willing Heart charity consist of professionals,
business owners, homemakers and retired individuals, all of whom are avid volunteers
to the charity.

Teh Eng Hua being the president; Quek Cher Ping the Vice President; Lim Thiam

The willing heart charity sustains itself through generous supports from friends, donors,
sponsors, and just about anyone who listens to their cause. It is strictly not for profit
organization run solely by donations.

People often donate money and yet some people donate food items for the charity.
Some others donate equipment that is useful to the actualization of daily targets.

The willing heart foundation welcomes any kind of contribution, even volunteering. They
say help is never too much, so they accept everyone who comes in with a warm smile,
two helping hands an open and willing heart and one simple question "How can I be of
help today?" and that is all it takes to be a willing hearts volunteer. Families have come
bringing their friends and children, all to volunteer and be of help.

The willing hearts charity put information out that they do not solicit cash donations on
the street, face-to-face or door-to-door. They don't have volunteers collecting cash on
their behalf.

As said, the activities are carried out by volunteers and the few hired bits of help.

The Willing hearts charity describes every day to be as busy immediately the door of the
kitchen open at 5:00 am till the close of activities for the day, pots and pans are
continually clanging and the grills are forever sizzling and the soup consistently boiling,
A pot of rice always boiling, several hands cooking, packing, packaging, chopping
vegetables, there usually is no room to sit and be idle. From the start of the day to the
end of the day, willing hearts charity bustles of activity.

Apparently, people on their first arrival to volunteer at the willing hearts charity often find
themselves lost in the chaos of activities that absorbs the place, but with time and
observation, they usually just fall right in place. People just grab them along and show
them where help is needed. There is always food to be packaged, vegetables to be
chopped up, dishes to be mopped, there always is a flurry of activities to be caught
upon.
Analysis of Website Strategy/ Strategies:

To commemorate willing hearts 10th anniversary, they printed 3,000 copies of cookbook
for sale to corporates and the public, and all proceeds were to go to funding Willing
Hearts' operations.

Their strategy included organizing a fundraiser and selling the book copies to the public
and for the questions of the public, they answered;

Why are we doing this?

1) To raise awareness for the organization

2) To raise funds to partially-fund Willing Hearts' operating costs

Section B:
Strategies Recommendations Based on The above analysis:
The strategy of involving everybody as volunteers is a very effective one as it puts more
hands on deck to a more efficient job done. The message to people is very clear,
contribute to what you have available as a sponsor, donor, volunteer. It could be
money-wise, or food-wise, or effort-wise. Every form of contribution is acceptable. This
is a very efficient way to generate income to keep the charity going.

Although, the charity says they do not seek funds face-to-face, door-to-door. Reaching
out to more prominent corporations could be a more effective way to generate more
income for the charity. The charity could also work towards reaching out to more people
to volunteer. The charity could also work actively on their social media engagement,
which is not consistent, the website should also be updated to meet up with current
dates regularly.
The charity aims at giving underprivileged people their "daily bread," and to ensure that
these people turn out to be useful in the society, they could start by utilizing what the
underprivilege has to offer. They could use their active involvement in the charity to
clean and do other menial things just to keep them engaged and give them a feeling of
usefulness.

In summary, if the charity can optimize on the partnership with everybody, regardless of
who and how little their role is, it will gain more ground and publicity, even across the
globe.
