Project Name : Water & Sewer System w/ Pipe Support (P527M Z3R) DATE 8/20/2020

Location : Zamboanga City

Owner/Client : LWUA-ZCWD FILE NO.
File Name : PROPOSED METHOD STATEMENT FOR
FABRICATION AND INSTALLATION OF 200mm X 200mm CONCRETE PILES
( @ VALE VISTA )
I. INTRODUCTION
- The purpose of this document is to outline the proposed methodology for the installation and
construction of the 200mm x 200mm piles using the a.) Combined precast and CAST-IN-PLACE
System and b.) Full Cast-In-Place System.
- The aim is to detail the sequence and method of construction, identify the hazard, assess the
associated risks involved, develop and implement adequate control measures and to provide a
safe place for work.
- This method statement aims to provide step-by-step procedure on an alternative method in
the installation of Concrete Piles on site, addressing the difficulty encountered in the actual
project site set up.

II. PRE REQUISITE MATERIAL/ EQUIPMENT

- Precast 200mm x 200mm @ L=3m Concrete Piles

- Wooden Formworks/Molds
- Pre assembled Rebar cage @ L=3m
- Pre assembled Rebar cage @ L=6m
- Concrete Mixer, etc

III. METHODOLOGY

a. Combined precast and CAST-IN-PLACE

a.1. Bring in to or at any place easily accesible to the site the precast concrete piles @L=3m,
preassembled rebar cages, and formworks,
a.2 Locate the point where pile should be installed.
a.3 Clear the area for any obstraction to provide enough and safe working space.
a.4 Carefully drop the 3m precast pile in to the water and drive it down to the sea bed until it
reaches the hard and stable surface.
a.5 Once the pile is driven and secured, connect the pre assembled rebar cage on the exposed
main bars of the driven piles observing enough lap length in the splicing.
a.6 When all main bars are tied and connected install formworks on top.
a.7 Pour concrete mix into the formworks and rebar assembly until it reaches the required
height, i.e, at least level the board walk.
a.8 Let the concrete cure then remove the formworks.

b. Full CAST-IN-PLACE
b.1 Bring in to the area preassembled rebar cage @ L=6m, and formworks, or at any place
easily accesible.
b.2 Locate the point where pile should be installed and driven.
b.3 Set up the formworks at the designated point and location based on the plan.
b.4 Secure the the formworks and drive it halfway to the hard stable surface.
b.5 Safely drop inside the formworks the preassembled rebar cage and secure alignment and
concrete covers all around.
b.6 Once secured, cast in concrete mix until it reaches its full length.
b.7 Keep the set up secured until the concrete has completely cured before removing
formworks.
b.8 When formworks are removed-leaving only the bare concrete pile, drive the pile down to
the sea bed until it reaches the hard stable surface, or until it reaches the design height or at
least level to the board walk.

a. Combined precast and CAST-IN-PLACE b. Full CAST-IN-PLACE

IV. ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND SAFETY

A risk assessment for the works has been prepared for this project. All personnel involved in
the above activities shall be introduced to this risk assessment in order to provide them with
the required knowledge of the works and to prepare them for the activities.
