ALUMINUM WINDOWS
PART 1 – GENERAL
A. Extruded aluminum windows with fixed and operating sash; glass shop glazed,
including infill panels for guard house and interior offices at first floor of office
building.
C. Perimeter sealant.
B. Configuration: Fixed non-operable and outward openings top hinged and horizontal
sliding.
A. Design and size components to withstand dead and live loads caused by positive and
negative wind pressure acting normal to plane of wall as calculated in accordance
with Bangkok code.
D. Limit air leakage through assembly to 0.35 cfm./min./sq. ft. 0.002 cu. M./s./sq. m. of
wall area, measured at a reference differential pressure across assembly of 1.57 psf.
75 pa. as measured in accordance wit ASTM E283.
E. Vapor Seal with Interior Atmospheric Pressure of 1 inch (25mm.) sq, 72 degrees F.
(22 degrees C.), 40 Percent RH: No. Failure.
F. Maintain continuous air and vapor barrier throughout assembly, primarily in line
with inside pane of glass inner sheet of infill panel and heel bead of glazing.
1.5 SUBMITS
C. Submit two samples illustrating window frame section and screen and frame.

2.2 MATERIALS
C. Reinforcement: Where fasteners screw-anchor into aluminum less than 0.125 inch
thick, reinforce interior with aluminum or non-magnetic stainless steel to receive
screw threads, or provide standard non-corrosive presses in splinted grommet nuts.
I. Sealant: Unless otherwise indicated for sealants required within fabricated window
units, provide type recommended by window manufacturer for joint size and
movement, to remain permanently elastic, non-shrinking and non-migrating.
2.4 HARDWARE
A. Operator: Lever action handle fitted to projecting sash arms with limit stops.
B. Projecting Sash Arms: Zinc plated steel, friction pivot joints with nylon bearings,
removable pivot clips for cleaning.
C. Pulls.
H. Insect Screen Frames: Rolled aluminum, of rectangular sections with mesh set into
frame and secured. Fit frames with adjustable roller hardware.
2.5 FABRICATION
B. Accurately fit and secure joints and corners. Make joints flush, hairline, and
weatherproof.
G. Permit internal drainage weep holes and channels to migrate to exterior. Provide
internal drainage of glazing spaces to exterior through weep holes.
H. Assemble insect screens of rolled aluminum rectangular tubular sections. Milter and
reinforced frame corners. Fit mesh taught in frame into frame secured. Fit frames
with four spring loaded steel pin retainers.
2.6 FINISHES
F. Apply one coat bituminous paint to concealed aluminum surfaces in contract with
cementitious or dissimilar materials.
PART 3 – EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
B. Verify wall openings and adjoining air and vapor materials are ready to receive work
of this Section.
3.2 INSTALLATION
C. Align window plumb and level, free of warp twist. Maintain dimensional tolerances,
aligning with adjacent work.
E. Coordinate attachment and seal of perimeter air and vapor barriers materials.
G. Install glass and infill panels in accordance with Section 08800, to glazing method
required to achieve performance criteria.
3.3 TOLERANCES
3.4 ADJUSTING
A. Adjust operating sash and hardware to provide tight fit at contact points and at
weather-stripping, and to ensure smooth operation and weather-tight closure.
3.5 CLEANING
B. Wash down surfaces with a solution of mild detergent in warm water, applied with
soft, clean wiping cloths. Take care to remove dirt from corners. Wipe surfaces clean.
B. Remove excess sealant by moderate use of mineral spirits or other solvent acceptable
