    Week 11: Healthcare Device

    Develop a document on a “hypothetical healthcare device” that would probably be


    necessary in the nursing practice in the Philippines containing the following information:
    o Device name
    o Picture/ Draft
    o Rationale
    o Functions/ Features
    o Implications to Clinical Practice

    HeartStart FRx Defibrillator

    Rationale- The device will generate a controlled shock to the patient through
    multifunctional defibrillator to restore the patient's normal heart beating.
    Functions/ Features- for emergency responders to managed abnormal heart rhythm the
    most common indication of sudden loss of cardiac function and pulseless rapid
    heartbeat.
    Implication to Clinical Practice - uses two stimulation electrodes sensors positioned on
    the patient's chest to provide the patient with electrical activity of the heart. Sensor
    detects irregular heartbeat, and can warn the user that "shock" from the defibrillator to
    restore regular heart pumping is necessary. It provides voice and text commands to
    guide the user to a process like cardiopulmonary resuscitation. It’s an essential in the
    nursing practice considering that it help in by having an intuitive step by step voice
    instructions, help guide basic live support while treating suspected cardiac arrest.
