DAILY LESSON PLAN

School: Camiguin National High School Grade: 10 - JADE

Teaching
Fabio A. Capito, Jr.
Demonstrator: Learning Area: SCIENCE
Date: July 31, 2019

I. OBJECTIVES:

A. Content Standard: The learners demonstrate an understanding of the relationship among the
locations of volcanoes, earthquake epicenter, and mountain ranges

B. Performance Standards: The learners shall be able to suggest ways by which he/she can
contribute to government efforts in reducing damage due to earthquake, tsunamis, and volcanic
eruptions
C. Learning Competencies and objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to enumerate the lines of evidence that
support plate movement.
S9ES-Ia-j-36.6
Specific objective: Label the evidences of plate movements

II. CONTENT
Lesson: Convection Current
Materials: video clips, manila paper, pentil pen

III. LEARNING RESOURCES

A. References:
B. Other learning Resources:
www.youtube.com
IV. PROCEDURES
PRELIMINARIES:
1. Prayer
2. Checking of Attendance
3. The teacher emphasizes proper arrangement of the classroom and imposes class discipline while
having the class discussion for the students to have a meaningful exploration and discovery.

A. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the new lesson (ELICIT) Materials/Assessment Tool
Ask the students to recall their experience with the soaring eagle.
pictures
Let them describe how the eagle soars.
B. Establishing the purpose for the lesson (ENGAGE)
Motivation: video clip
To introduce the topic, let the students watch video clip about
Convection In Water and ask the following questions:

(Apply Predict-Observe-Explain)
What will happen to the potassium permanganate in water when the
burner is lighted? How about the water in the flask?
C. Presenting examples/instances of the new lesson (EXPLORE)
Before presenting the activity, the teacher will remind the different dropper, food color, 1000 mL
laboratory precautions so that untoward incidents will be avoided and beaker, 700 mL water, 3-5
state the objective of the lesson. small light wood blocks,
alcohol burner & tripod
Activity: Perform Activity 7, Push me up and aside!
The students will be grouped according to their learning style. They
are going to answer the following guide questions: Activity sheet
a. How does the food coloring behave?
b. What do you cal this behavior?
c. Enumerate the factors that cause the formation of a current.
e. What happens to the block? What does this resemble?

You have the freedom on how you are going to present your
answers. You can draw, make a snap shot or even make an essay or
poem.

D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills (EXPLAIN)

Discussion: activity outputs
Discuss with the students the results of the activity.

(Praising the students for their active participation during the class)

E. Development of Mastery (Elaborate)

Further discussion on convection current using video clip video clip
F. Finding practical applications of the concepts
Let the students recall the question given in the ELICIT part. Let
them realize why the eagle soars.
G. Making generalization and abstraction about the lesson
Students will conceptualize and generalize the ideas presented
during the discussion.

(The teacher encourage the students to ask questions for further

queries and verification before proceeding to Evaluation)

H. Evaluating Learning (EVALUATION)

Group Activity pictures
1. Explain what will happen to the cool air and hot air in the
convection current?
Refer to figure 1

2. Identify the different evidences of sea-floor spreading.

Refer to figure 2

I. Additional activities for aplication or remediation (EXTEND)

Read articles about earthquakes, tsunamis and tectonic movements.

V. REMARKS
The teacher ensures the implementation of learning processes to meet
curriculum requirements and varied teaching contexts.
VI. REFLECTION
A. No. of learners who earned 80% in the evaluation

B. No. of learners who require additional activities for remediation who

scored below 80%

C. Did the remedial lesson work? No. of learners who caught up with
the lesson

D. No. of learners who continue to require remediation

E. Which of my teaching strategies worked well? Why did these work?

F. What difficulties encounter which my principal or supervisor can help

me solve?

G. What innovation or localized materials did I use/discover which I

wish to share with other teacher?
